My contact just told me that this in an Ontario fix only and Calgary still has issues. He promised to keep me posted on Calgary.

Also, an update on Woodstock. Apparently since Aug. 2011 is quickly approaching, they decided to build it in its final frequency and bypass the "pre-transition phase." So Woodstock City DTV will go on air in Aug. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. :(

What could Rogers do about?
Given RF 51 to test on was bum. It conflicts with TvO Toronto Transitional and CHCH London.

Anyhow, hows the news with Omni1 London or Omni2 Lndon? I dont expect Omni2 to go digital before August. Will Omni1 London @ 48 go digital B4 august?

In Ottawa at 10:19 PM, both OMNIs had 11:14 PM, and CITY had 6:13 PM.

SunTV was correct.

I'm disappointed with the news that Rogers will not be upgrading its Citytv transmitter in Woodstock to DTV by the end of this year.... the whole transition to OTA DTV in Canada has pretty much been a disappointment. :(

I informed my contact and he said they will look into the problem.

Apparently both OMNIs will wait until August. I guess it makes sense for them to wait until they can do both at the same time.

The CRTC just approved Rogers' application for a post-transitional transmitter for CJMT (Omni 2) in London:

According to Industry Canada's data, CJMT (Omni 2) has had their post-transitional transmitters for Toronto and Ottawa approved. In Toronto they will broadcast on channel 51 at 18100 watts, and in Ottawa they will be on channel 20 at 15000 watts. Details can be found in stampeder's list:

http://www.user.dccnet.com/jonleblanc/Canada_TV_Stations/DT.html

See the entries named CJMT-DT(1) and CJMT-DT-2(1).

Awww, so it appears that CityTV and OMNI2 have swapped. City was originally supposed to be allocated to 51 but have been approved to what was supposed to be OMNI2's post-transition allocation.

According to Stampeder's mirror of the Industry Canada database (http://www.user.dccnet.com/jonleblanc/Canada_TV_Stations/DT.html), Citytv Lethbridge (CKAL-DT-1) has been approved by the CRTC.

Lethbridge; Ch. 46; CKAL-DT-1; 494057 lat; -1125538 long; 200.0 metres HAAT; 79000 watts max.; 41600 watts avg.

CFMT1 London

Check out the ERP on this. 25kW vs 500kW. No HAAT increase. I guess I will have to worry about overload <:

CITY2 Woodstock

CityTV ERP is 25kW vs 125kW. I wonder how many times i will lose this channel when WJW goes to rf 31 at 600kW.

Thanks Emerald_Boar for posting CFMT-1 London & CITY-2 Woodstock coverage maps.
On NON-tropo days, I found the City of London to be far enough away from any US border city to not be able to pickup US DTV channels. Whenever WJW goes to ERP 600kW, will it be possible to receive reliable everyday in London, Ontario?
I believe most DTV channels broadcasting close to the USA-Canada border have "nulls to the North", in order to prevent same RF & co-channel interference, and reception of those channels north of the border.

I am not familiar with WJW's application, but assuming parameters (other than ERP) will be the same, I highly doubt if it will be receivable in London as there is too much terrain in the way. As for WJW interfering with CITY, it would likely only affect those on the south western edge of the contour.

Not necessarily, but considering IC negotiated the use of 31 for CITY-PT-2, WJW will likely will have a northern null, especially since Cleavland is right on the lake and doesn't need much power to the north for their target market. If so, it may not have any effect on the reception of CITY-PT-2 within Canada.

The allotment negotiated for Cleveland on 31 is omni-directional. WJW still has the channel 31 omni up from before the transition, and I doubt they're planning to replace it.

I am surprised the allotment for 31 in Cleveland is still non-directional post transition.

They likely wouldn't need to replace the antennas but just change the signal going to the antennas. Besides, wouldn't that antenna be lower than the VHF one? If so, I am sure they would want to move it up the tower.
