Humbar 2011-07-25, 07:06 PM If the new power reductions are correct, this might have something to do with the increased height in the antennas. It's possible Rogers didn't want to go with high ERP's so they could save money on electricity, just a guess.
Jase88 2011-07-25, 08:05 PM Don't confuse Industry Canada allotments for the post-transition channel plan with actual license applications and approvals. The allotments were based on projections and engineering data by the government only. They do not reflect the business requirements or feedback--generally in the form of a license amendment or application--of the station assigned the channel.
roger1818 2011-07-25, 11:24 PM Edit: looks like it's fixed today! Happy. :D
Yup. He wrote back shortly after 1:00 to say it had been fixed. I thought I posted that, but I guess I forgot to click submit.
Humbar 2011-08-10, 07:55 PM Anyone know when Rogers is going to flash-cut the Woodstock transmitter on CH-31?
ota_canuck 2011-08-10, 10:39 PM Should be a flashcut to digital on the same channel August 31st

City TV Toronto (CITY-TV-2)
Analog Channel: 31
Digital Channel: 31
Transition Plan: Switching to digital by August 31, 2011
Any specific news on when any of the Rogers channels (Citytv, OMNI1, OMNI2) will convert to digital at any site (outside GTA)?
Some broadcasters seem more upfront with their transition dates (like TVO, Global, CHCH), while others are less (Rogers, CTV, CTS).
No need to mention the CBC....
Schmerpy 2011-08-22, 03:15 PM So, what power is CITY-TV currently transmitting digitally, and what will they be post-transition?
Digital_Frank 2011-08-22, 05:02 PM In looking at: http://www.user.dccnet.com/jonleblanc/Canada_TV_Stations/ON.html
Right now, CITY's peek power is 2KW (1.2KW avg) and will move to 21KW.
Schmerpy 2011-08-22, 07:20 PM That's good news. I am in North Toronto and City is currently weaker than the Buffalo networks for me.
lmlandry 2011-08-22, 09:16 PM Does anyone know if CityTV Toronto will broadcast omnidirectionally?
Yes. According to my records, CITY has approval for 22 kW ND from the CN Tower.

roger1818 2011-08-23, 09:43 AM Any specific news on when any of the Rogers channels (Citytv, OMNI1, OMNI2) will convert to digital at any site (outside GTA)?
I asked my contact at Rogers and he said that all of their remaining transitions will occur on August 31.
tvlurker 2011-08-23, 10:03 AM Roger, can you check with your Rogers contact about OMNI2 in Ottawa? For the past week, I've been getting a strong signal with the usual PSIP info, but no video.
Thanks roger1818 for the information!
I was expecting every broadcaster to switch on August 31, to allow time for testing, but it's nice to see some channels transition early to digital ;)
robman50 2011-08-28, 04:30 PM I get both OMNI stations but I can not get CityTV. According to TV Fool it is a very low powered station. Is there any talk of boosting the power level?
CITY-DT 53 (57.1)
Ind
Max ERP: 2.000 kW
Eff. pwr: 0.865 kW
downbeat 2011-08-28, 05:51 PM Yes. From Stampeder's mirror of the IC database:
ON Toronto TO 44 CITY-DT 433856 -792254 314.3 337 15000 15000 650.00
Channel change and power boost (to 15 kW) on Sept. 1 but temporary move to First Canadian Place.
Later on, further power boost (to 21 kW) and move back to CN Tower.
Marbles_00 2011-08-31, 10:47 AM Now, when are we going to see these puppies change?
dcorreia 2011-08-31, 12:36 PM Please wait until tomorrow as CityTv/OMNI1&2 and CTS have not transitioned to their allocated channel and power levels.
writerpatrick 2011-08-31, 12:41 PM I expect it would be sometime today. If not by 5pm then likely around 11:59pm. CityTV can't switch until OMNI moves.
ota_canuck 2011-08-31, 02:12 PM I believe Omni and CityTV are both Rogers. So, why are they waiting for Omni to move?
I noticed that the analogs for city31 and city57 have been gone for a few hours, yet no sign of any CityTV digital activity. Both of these CityTV analogs were a bit snowy here, so I'm not going to hold my breath for CityTV or the Omni[s].
Bye-Bye Rogers OTA!;)
