I was just on the BellAliant site and noticed that High-Speed Ultra is getting speed boost from 5Mbps to 7Mbps. on August 10th. That is the only increase as far as I can see unfortunately for those on the other tiers. I'm pretty happy though. Would rather be getting FibreOP but will settle for speed boost in the interim.

Well I noticed the speed boost this morning. For those of you on the Ultra tier try turning your modem off for a minute or two then turning it back on and once it boots completely run a speedtest.

Here's mine. Not sure if we got the upgrade yet because I've always been able to hit speeds like this with Ultra. I wish my upload speed wasn't so slow.

The test did peak a little over 7 though, but didn't record the result. Believe it or not I have seen it hit that speed before, not often, but it has, so I'm not confident that it's taken effect here in NL yet.

Where are you located?

I'm in New Brunswick, never was able to achieve anything over 5 Mbps because BellAliant caps you there if you have their T.V. service AFAIK. I think that is the increase you have to take into account about a 15% overhead on 7 Mbps hence the "up to" disclaimer. Some people are just lucky to hit speeds over said amounts and I am am pretty sure BellAliant doesn't over provision customers to account for overhead.

Not sure if NL did get the upgrade but my speed is a little better this morning.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm calling in today and downgrading to Ultra from Max. The extra little speed is not worth the extra cost.

I wonder if I'll ship me a 2wire modem to replace the Sieman's?

Edit: Called in, downgraded, saving an extra $10 a month.

The speed advertised for Ultra was always (up to) 5mbps, it's now up to 7mbps.

Looks like they didn't turn up the speed just outside Halifax. I did reboot my modem. Same speed I always got with Ultra.

Emailed Aliant about my speed issue. They reset my connection now my speed is 3mbps more than last night.

Kramer: I'm about 2Km from Remote.
