I shouldnt just take it to the dump, Is there somewhere to take this monster? convergence gone again 2nd time in 3-4 years. I just want to get rid of it.

Put up an ad in various places. Often people will pick these "free" TVs up for parts - screens, CRTs, mirrors, etc. Some people will even fix the IC issue and use the TV (very inexpensive fix for a knowledgeable person)

Our local recycling centre in St. Albert takes all old electronics.

In Edmonton, the "Eco Station" locations also take old electronics.

I would be surprised if Calgary does not have a recycling centre that took electronics.....in fact, a quick google search just brough this link up...

You could try selling it on kijiji (http://calgary.**********/). I sold my old 50" Toshiba for $400 in about 3 weeks but it was a working set.

The local repair depot is a partner of the province's recycling program, they took our Mitsubishi 50" for free.

Wow...around here, you'd just put it on your lawn near the curb when you went to bed, and it'd be gone when you woke up...the (independent) trash fairies! :)

I would try to sell it first. If that doesn't work, try to give it away. If the set can be fixed, someone will take it and fix it. That's one less TV in the garbage dump we call Earth and you won't need to haul it either. :D
