: iPhone: notification options

One of the requirements people like myself have is using our phones for 7x24 support. Hence we have a requirement to be notified 7x24 for particular emails with certain subjects or from a particular address but don't want to be woken up in the night for any old normal email or spam.

With BB this is easy to accomplish with their flexible notification options and "Level 1" alerts. For Windows Mobile you can use a program called "PhoneAlarm". But what could be done in this situation for the iPhone? I can't find any apps (like PhoneAlarm) that would do it and I don't think an app solution would work as it would need to run in the background as a daemon which Apple doesn't allow. And the flexibility of the "Level 1" type of functionality that BB has doesn't seem to have an iPhone equivalent.

Any suggestions? I could forward important emails as a txt message and then only receive SMS over night. But reading the Roger's literature, they specify that the unlimited free txts is only to and from 10 digit telephone numbers so they could end up dinging me 15 cents for each txt routed via email?

I really like these new phones like the iPhone and Pre (which I suspect will have the same issue) but I can't see using them as a business phones because of this limitiation. Plus no external LEDs for waking up the night and checking if it's blinking green or red. I'd like to get off of BB and WM for business but this is a show stopper!

Thanks.
