Thanks, I've added them to Post #1 with their FCC-assigned call letters. What is the fate of Fox and CBS on 7.1 and 7.2 then?

Those are the same stations, but the tranmitters are covering different but close regions, Watertown and Massena. More details under http://dtvtransition.blogspot.com/

Both will live...

The info I got is that CBUFT, CIVI and CHEK will all start digital on 01/09/2011 and all 3 should be in HD, CBUFT and CIVI(2) from Mt Seymour, no details for CHEK, probably from existing transmitter site.

The dates are pretty close to mandate :)

I emailed CIVI quite some time ago (more than 6 months ago I think, through the CRTC website) and the station manager emailed me to say that CIVI(2) was approved in Oct/2010 and will flash-cut over at the end of August but gave no specific date.

I never thought the CRTC would even respond to my email, never mind the station itself.

With so many changes happening during Canada's DTV transition I ask that:

If you have any transition-related news about specific Canadian stations/networks please post it into the appropriate existing thread found in the main OTA Forum:

CTV & /A\ Channel DTV Transition Status (http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=128234)
CHCH, CHEK, Corus, Zoomer, Pattison, Independents: DTV Transition Status (http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=129678)

TVOntario & TFO DTV Transition Status (http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=105528) Regarding the lists in this present thread, I ask that our members go over them and the existing replies and then post any updates/corrections to the lists.
Station Status threads are only for reporting/checking the actual operational and technical status of a station in real time.
As always, a person's specific local reception is discussed in the appropriate thread covering that local area.
Remember that the official Industry Canada list of stations is updated daily: Track The Daily Status of Canada's DTV Stations During the Transition (http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=128142)

cheers :)

Just a heads-up to readers here of what to do and expect when you wake-up September 1, 2011 and the "digital transition" has occurred.

What Will Happen:

For Toronto TV viewers, the analog channels will vanish. The analog transmitters will have been been shut off overnight.

On August 18, TVOntario will flash-cut to digital on channel 19. This means that the analog transmitter will shut-off and a digital high definition signal will replace it on the same channel 19.

What To Do:

On September 1, everyone should re-scan for channels that have changed their frequencies. Several Toronto digital high definition stations will be moving to new channels:

5.1 CBC (no change, remaining on rf20, remapping to 5.1)
9.1 CTV (changing from channel 40 to channel 9)
10.1 CKVR (/A\ Channel / CTV2 will start broadcasting from Barrie. Some in Toronto may receive it.)
11.1 CHCH (changing from channel 18 to channel 11)
19.1 TVOntario (changing from analog 19.0 to digital HD 19.1 on August 18)
25.1 Radio-Canada (changing from channel 24 to 25)
36.1 CTS (changing from channel 35 to 36)
40.1 Sun News Network (changing from 66 to 40) may vanish
41.1 Global (changing from channel 65 to 41)
44.1 CityTV (changing from channel 53 to 44)
47.1 Omni 1 (changing from channel 64 to 47)
51.1 Omni 2 (changing from channel 44 to 51)

What isn't on that list, and is worth noting is CHEX-TV (CBC - Peterborough) and CHEX-TV-2 (CBC - Oshawa) will not be converting to digital on that day and will remain on RF12 and RF22 in analog format.

So many can still get CBC in analog if they wanted.

The same for those who want CTV and in the city who can pull CKCO-TV on RF13, that station will also remain in analog.

Of course this is all a topic for a different thread...

AFAIK, CKCO will be flash cutting to digital on channel 13. Have you heard differently?

In the Toronto market their will still be 1 station broadcasting in analog after the switchover, and that's CHEX 22 out of Oshawa, very low power, but comes in strong at my location.

Now that you mention it, how is it that Barrie was lumped in as mandatory transistion due to proximity to Toronto, but Oshawa wasn't?

tvlurker

Because of A-Channel.

Not all the mandatory market boundaries make sense. In NorthWestern Quebec, the city-grade CBC signal for the Rouyn-Noranda market happens to originate in Ontario, and was indavertently left out of the mandatory market definition. A good thing, too, as things turned out.

I think CHEX 22 is not mandatory because it's a very low power station and doesn't reach Toronto. My location in Stouffville is exactly 22 miles from their transmitter.

Only Ottawa area channel that did not transition to digital for September 1st is V télé channel 34; they are still analog for now, they are scheduled to transition November 30, 2011 (http://digitaltv.gc.ca/eng/1298734876915/1298734876967).
After November 30, 2011 there will be two analog stations left in the area that can be received all the time (regardless of tropo. conditions): CKWS 36 from Smith Falls and CJOH 8 from Cornwall (don't know how long they'll keep it alive?).
Here is a current list of Ottawa area digital stations (http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showpost.php?p=1311051&postcount=88).

So will these lists ever be updated? I tried to send stampeder a PM but he has blocked them.
