Canwest swaps Fine Living for DIY

BANFF NEWS: The Canwest-owned Canadian lifestyle channel Fine Living is to close sometime this fall, to be replaced by a do-it-yourself and home improvement channel, it emerged today.

The move will see Fine Living replaced by DIY Channel, and its programming remit shifted accordingly. Both the Fine Living and DIY Channel brands are owned by US cable group Scripps Networks, with which Canwest has an agreement.

Emily Morgan, VP of content at Food Network, Fine Living and Discovery Health channels, all part of Canwest Global, revealed the news today during a C21 Broadcaster Briefing here in Banff, Canada, and said she is this week talking to producers about her new DIY programming needs.
