I don't think WWBI is even on the air anymore. I think they are using a translator on Channel 47, which is low power. Can somebody confirm the situation with WWBI.
As for CIVM-DT, west end Montreal cannot receive its signal. I don't see how increasing its output will change that due to the mountain.
Also, what is up with the delays by US stations requesting power increases near the border. WCFE-DT and WNPI-DT all have requests to increase power output, and nothing seems to be happening. Is Industry Canada dragging it's feet from the FCC requests?

I was only asking the question about the higher ERP for CIVM-PT because the shadow is relatively thin, if you compare it to the Mount Royal shadows for CBFT-DT/CBMT-DT and CFJP-DT. If you have sufficient power, you can theoretically overcome mild geographical obstructions. Not as good as line-of-sight reception, of course.

W52CD has been buggy since the last mini snow storm.
You watch it and you completely lose the signal for 2-3 seconds then It comes back on. It must be a transmission problem.
Did someone noticed that also?

I am wondering if anybody know why FOX (WFFF) broadcast with so little power. I checked the TVFOOL for other antennas on MT Mansfield and NBC channel 14 uses 650KW, CBS on channel 22 use 443KW and FOX on channel 43 only uses 47KW. Is it because they are not exacly at the same location?
Or is it frequency related?
Do you know if there is any plan on their side to increase the power?

Maybe FOX is placed higher on the antenna tower and there is no need for high transmitter power. Here in Vaudreuil, FOX comes in stronger then NBC, and about the same as CBS.

I have no signal on CH. 52 as of this morning.
Can someone confirm this also?

Maybe we'll be better off after the digital transition to be over, when CFJP (V) moves from Channel 42 back to Channel 35. Perhaps the elimination of adjacent channel interference from will improve reception of WFFF (Fox) on Channel 43?

Interesting tidbit in CTV's DTV application for CFCF. The application documents say CFCF will be co-sited on Mount Royal with TVA and CBC — theses are the other owners of the tower.
No mention of Télé-Quebec, V, Canwest Global or CJNT.
Aside from TQ, which we know wants to stay at the Olympic Stadium tower, how much should we be reading into this?

hi, is anyone else having trouble receiving WPTZ (5.1) today (May 28). This is usually my strongest signal but for some reason its either not coming through today, or i am getting an extremely weak signal.
Wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same issue. Thanks!
I am in Montreal.

How significant is CFCF's (ch 12) reduction of ERP from the analog 325 kW to the digitial 10.6 kW in terms of adjacent-channel interference with WVNY (ch 13)?
Are there methods to determine/calculate interference for a given location?
What is the impact of change in EHAAT (from 295.7m to 299.6m), if any?

They must have some technical problem
i have a very weak signal , from 4% to 34%, most of the time near 4%....
i usualy get it at 100%

must have been temporary. NBC, CBS and FOX are coming in unusually strong here in Vaudreuil. Usually 4 - 5 bars, now 8. As for Tele-Quebec 17-1 it is always coming in 100%. Also crystal clear in analog on 17. So wherever they have there antennas, they can stay there. This is the only digital channel from Montreal that I can receive here.

So WPTZ is back at regular levels? I haven't seen any news of station problems.
2010-05-29, 11:22 AM
WFFF 20%-40% was 55% at 8 am
WVNY 0% as usual
WCFE 0% usually 40-50%
must have some weather related interferences
2010 was not very good for me until now: WFFF not coming often, nether WETK, don't know why, last year, those two channels were there more steady
2010-05-29, 11:25 AM
I don't think WPTZ is back to normal levels - its coming in but on a weak signal. I'm actually having trouble getting strong signals of PBS (57.1) as well, and pretty much all the other US channels are transmitting a weaker signal than usual. I lost all of them for a while this morning...

Sometimes a blast of strange weather can cause signals to behave strangely. The first thing I do is check all the other stations from the same area and if they are odd too then that's the explanation.
2010-06-01, 09:21 PM
WPTZ, usually my strongest channel, again behaving strangely to the extent that I can't get a lock on the channel. Have been happening on and off over the last few days..any feedback on current status from anyone else in montreal area?
2010-06-01, 11:12 PM
Yes, I can confirm that you where not the only one. I lost WPTZ-DT just before prime-time tonite. My signal meter indicated zero. It didn't last for too long though. When this happened, my signal of WFFF-DT also dropped to border line.
2010-06-02, 10:28 PM
thanks blackburst - speaking of fox (wfff-dt), does that happen to be one of the toughest stations to catch? I am using an indoor terk (amplified) antenna, and I was occassionally getting fox in the winter, but now the singal is so weak i have no chance!
2010-06-03, 10:00 AM
I think the toughest US station to get in our area is WVNY-DT. WFFF-DT is second. Not enough juice on the transmitter. As for you getting WFFF-DT in winter and not in summer, you where probably getting a signal bounce from all the snow on the ground.
You should go into your TV's signal Meter, and see how far off your current WFFF-DT signal is from the lock point. I hope you know what your lock point is since it varies from each brand of TV. I'll give you an example... my TV is a Sharp. It will not give me a picture lock unless it gets a 34% signal. Since you where getting WFFF-DT in winter, you may have dropped a few % points from your picture lock. A amp may help you. But, look at the CM3410, CM3412, CM3414, these things also help getting a stable signal. Read up on them before you spend any money.
Though as a after thought, since you have a Terk powered Antenna, adding a powered amp may cause more problems. Not a good idea. More reading up needed.
