Thanks Ron,

I have a feeling that WCWF will broadcast be in DTV.

This station always sounded fly by night.

My two cents,

Neither of these stations is a full powered station, and so are not affected by the June 12 analog shutdown.

Actually as mentioned in EXHIBIT 1 of this filling of June 12 to the fcc they are in process of being sold, not sure what the new owner will do with this station.

AFAIK, it's the new owners who are doing all the work right now already. They are operating the station under an LMA pending the sale.

I saw that KRO posted this on the French section of this forum :

Man, these Guys have major problems on their hands.

On the specifications sheet of the Transmitter, It says it is a 1 KW TX. Are they going to Broadcsast 1000 Watts?

No, that is the power output of the transmitter, not the antenna system. The antenna typically adds about 10 to 13 dB of gain, so 1 kW would end up being about 15 kW.

Note that the new, tmporary site is in Saranac Lake, not Tupper Lake, and so may be easier to catch in Montreal.

When should we expect CBC to start broadcasting digitally on Mount Royal?

From our friend Fybush:

And there's a call change in Saranac Lake, as WCWF (Channel 40) becomes WNMN. As best we can make out from its FCC filings, channel 40 went dark on June 12, since its low-power analog signal had to leave the air and its digital facility isn't yet ready. The station has an application for special temporary authority to operate a very low-powered interim digital facility, allowing it to get back on the air sometime soon. (And about those calls: with the Burlington-Plattsburgh market's CW affiliation now claimed by WFFF's 44.2 subchannel, it looks like channel 40 will be going for the My Network TV affiliation that used to belong to now-dark WBVT.)

There goes my Rockford Files on RTV.

WNMN stands for I guess NewYork My Network.

I have a feeling that we will see Punk'd and South Park again unfortunately like in the era of WBVT/WGMU-CA.

If they have deep pockets maybe we could see RTV at 40.2.

I was looking at domain names search (Whois).

Guess what I got:

www.wnmntv.com

The website is parked but registered to:

It looks like Mr.Fybush was right after all.

now that this is apparently the My Network TV affiliate, wonder what WGMU is going to be, if/when it comes back...

WGMU was purchased by the new owners of WNMN.

They purchased all of their transmitters.

Last Sunday I was tuning my HDTV for channel #22 (WCAX) and # 14 (WPTZ), and at one point oddly, the tuner/signal strength meter indicated the label WPTZ #14, while I had the tuner selection at DTV #22....I found this very odd, it never did that before...???

My signal strength has been down from 5-30% on certain channels !

I've noticed a drop of signal of WPTZ-DT from 93 % to 78 %

Yes, WPTZ (#14) was always my strongest channel, very easy one, could even get it indoors with a paper clip if need be (around 95%).

Now, since the beginning of July, its barely watchable, with constant drops out, pre-amping does nothing to help

We can play around with a lot of other factors, but we can never change the fact that foliage kills the UHF!
