I usually get WVNY at 70-75% with a 5y13 in the attic. One of these days I need to get a 10y13 and get up there to change it out so I can increase my results.

WVNY is the only channel I have issues with. All other DTV channels in the Montreal/Plattsburgh/Burlington market come in all the time!!

you have issues with WVNY at 70% reception? I wish I can have reception at 50%, right now I am between 42% and 47%. My tuner locks at 47%

No, my issues are when it doesn't come in at 70%...it usually comes in at 70% but on occasion it's down well below that, especially during the day. Thankfully I only watch tv late evening so hasn't been a real issue for me yet, but I do want to improve that with a 10y13.

Some of the statements made in WVNY's responses to enquires are factually incorrect:

1) WVNY was assigned channel 16 for digital broadcasts durimg the transition period by the FCC. WVNY requested a change to channel 13 and it was granted.

2) WVNY elected not to exercise their right to revert to channel 22 during the post-transition channel assignment process, choosing instead to remain on Channel 13. That left channel 22 available and WCAX grabbed it because they could not remain on channel 53.

Blaming the FCC for being on an unfavourable channel assignment (as far as Montreal is concerned) is inaccurate and misleading. It was WVNY's own choice.

3) CFCF wil not be abandoning channel 12. CFCF has been assigned channel 12 as their post-transition (post-August 2011) channel.

P.S. At the moment I am receiving WVNY-DT using a Wade-Delhi 10Y13S yagi with a CM 7777 pre-amp mounted temporarily in an upstairs room. Although the signal strength is low, it is steady enough that I have yet to lose the signal even once since I mounted it a month ago. The only reason I have not put the antenna on my roof is that it took so long to get delivered after I ordered it, that there was already snow on the roof when it arrived. I am located about 100 yards from Stewart Hall in Pointe-Claire.

I'm 5 Km L.O.S. from CBC-SRC and TQS antennas ,
except TQS 65%,, the others have the same power: SRC 97%, CBC 90%, and TQc 100%...

May be it's directionnal

From www.wcax.com :

UPDATE: WCAX-DT is currently running at 10% power in preparation for the DTV Transition. WCAX-DT is moving from Channel 53 to Channel 22 as part of the transition. Between February 13th and 16th, the digital transmitter is expected to be down during early morning hours between 1:30 AM and 4:00 AM. WCAX-DT viewers should expect to lose their signal during those time periods. As of 4:00 AM on February 18th, WCAX-DT should be back up on UHF channel 22 at 50% power, and up to full power by February 21st. Viewers will have to rescan their converter boxes and HDTV sets on February 18th to receive WCAX-DT on its new digital channel.

I hope once analog shuts down, the digital channels will come in better with less interference. and with the channels at full power. hopefully anyway. time will tell....

and with the channels at full power. hopefully anyway. time will tell....

Other than WCAX, which should get better coverage on 22 than on 53, none of the stations in this market are changing powers right now (or at all, other than WCFE, and eventually WCAX, which will increase marginally in 2011.). WCFE has applied for 200 kW, but that application has not been approved; neither has WLED-DT's move to Mt Washington, not WNPI's power increase from 40 to 60 kW.

The loss of 1 MW analog from ch 22, and channel 33 MAY make a slight difference, so as you say, time will tell.

Anyone here have access to analog cable from Videotron in the Montreal area?

I'm wondering how they're handling it. Are they already showing the downconverted digital signals of WVNY, WPTZ and WFFF? More importantly, what will they be showing on the WCAX slot between midnight and 4am? Will they be showing the analog nightlight or will it be blank with a slate (since WCAX-DT will be off the air during those four hours)?

What's happening? No one else is reporting here! Did they shut down the internets too? :p

Unfortunately I can't see any other stations from my current location. Someone please get me an update on WVNY and WFFF.
