Congratulations, and I'm looking forward to seeing how people in the Montreal thread areas are getting it. :)

So 27.1 is remapping to 17.1?

Yes stampeder, It remaps to 17.1

10% on my sage tv tuner card software, 30-40% and a very unreliable lock (unwatchable) on my LG tv's built in tuner.

Strange I am sure I have LOS and I am physically about as close to it as Piko :(

Of course I didn't rotate my antenna but I didn't expect it to be necessary to pick up a station that's so close considering I can pick up most of the US stations regardless of where i point the darned thing! (CM4228)

I am roughly 16KM away from the stadium.

29% signal in Cote-Des-Neiges. No picture lock. Zip.

Some much for that.

that's wierd Blackburn; everything northwest of boulevard Edouard Monpetit should have LOS to the stadium.

That is according to google earth with buildings and terrain activated.

then again it says I should get LOS but it seems I don't as for all intents and purposes we are on the same boat.

Oh well. Fughetaboutit..

I wrote an email to the people at télé Québec to ask if they are at full power, if they intend to move to mount royal etc. We'll see what they have to say about that.

About 70% in Ahuntsic when aiming my 4228 at Big O.
Still about 60% when aimed at Mount Mansfield. Great! Been waiting for this for such a long time!
To whoever said he wouldn't watch it: how about free quality movies with no commercials?!

In Pierrefonds, 2km west of St-Charles, just north of the 40 (Antoine-Faucon):

I get Tele-Quebec HD (27.1) at 81%; where's their transmitting antenna ?

If it's on Mount-Royal that's a good sign because it means I won't have to re-orient my CM4228 (w/ CM preamp in attic) currently pointed toward Mount Mansfield (for PBS, ABC, CBS, NBC & FOX), when SRC/CBC/TVA/CTV/TQS etc. (none of which I receive in HD currently as for many others in the West Island) relocate there for HD.

If it's on top of the Olympic Stadium tower that's funny, I would have expected Mount Royal to shadow it.

By the way as I did a scan for that purpose I also noticed FOX doesn't seem to be broadcasting (D44.1-44.2), as of 1AM Tuesday Jan. 27th.

fox 44.1 (and therefore 44.2) are coming in loud and clear for me.

27 (17.1) is on top of the big o's mast. about 200 meters above sea level.

Hi Aerocorp,

The antenna for Télé Québec in digital is on top of the olympic Tower (It was installed late december 2008).

100 % with CM7000 in Mile-End ( Park ave \ Bernard )
88% with Sharp Aquos 26 " ( and the CM4228 turn in direction of the stadium, when turn in the direction of the states, it goes down at 66% )

i wonder if they broadcast at full power ( 15Kw ) ?:D

I was watching WCAX last night and heard this message relative to the channel switch in February. Apparently, when WCAX will migrate to channel 22, they will at first broadcast at reduced power. Did I hear correctly that they will be at half power for about a month ? What would be the reason for that ? Are we gonna lose this channel in Montreal for one month ?
Thanks.

Hi Yagi, Fraser isn't around...but I'm trying to remember what he said exactly, I BELIEVE he said it was only going to be a week at reduced power. Not sure where you got that MONTH from, that's insane and isn't correct.

But with the U.S. Congress screwing around again, allowing an extension of the analog shutdown, I'm not sure if they will be doing that at all now...we'll have to wait for Fraser to pop his head in here :)

CIVM-DT 27 seems to be coming in fine in Westmount (Downtown area). Don't know about upper Westmount. I also noticed that there is no channel info data being supplied. Example, station I.D. missing, and program data.

So, there seems to be a problem. Where I live in Cote-Des-Neiges (Metro CDN area), the signal is too week, and NDG is probably in the same situation due to the mountain. Not a great situation. My antenna is pointed towards the US stations, and that is where it's going to stay. The Montreal broadcasters are going to have to get their sh@t together and get those transmitters on Mount-Royal, or else we are going to continue having black reception holes in various parts of the island.

As for WCAX-DT, now that the US Congress has extended the deadline, it would seem that WVNY-TV might decide to hang onto it's analog tranmitter until June. That would effect WCAX-DT in it's final transition stage. What a mess. All because some people can't connect a digital box, and a proper antenna. People had more brains back in the 1950's concerning TV reception than they do today.

I'm getting 17.1 at 80% from TMR ( Jean Talon Cote de Neiges) 5.1 at 87% still and no signal with 3.1. Still trying to figure that one out .
Also getting 35.1 at 40% and getting a lock. No signal with 33.1 but 74% with 57.1.

What would be the reason for that

WCAX has to retune their tranmitter from 53 to 22. They will do this one module at a time (there are two) , so that they can switch from one to another at switchover time.

Anyone else lost fox due to the faulty amplifier mentioned by Frasier? Its been a while now for me, I'm hoping they sort it out. The same thing happened a few months ago, attributed to an "amplifier drawer" that time...

nope, 44.1 is coming in loud and clear over here. 100%

Reverse situation for me:
Yesterday, I was able to catch Fox 44.1 for the first time in months (solid lock
at 45% on my Aquos, over a wide angle on the rotor)
It disappeared from my reception last Spring (after I was able to watch the SuberBowl in HD...), only to reappear yesterday. It seems to be a season-related thing.
