Only posts about the actual operational and technical status of stations are allowed. The effect of engineering decisions (as annoying as they may be) on OTA's popularity is definitely off topic here.

TV listings for CFTU have been added to the program guide of Microsoft's Windows Media Center. Now all Montreal stations are included in the program guide. Montreal viewers should choose country USA with ZIP code 12919 when setting up Windows Media Center's guide.

I've been using Rovi (built-in software on my Sony Bravia) for a program guide, and noticed CFTU 29.1's listings are just a duplicate of CFJP 30.1 on my TV. Been using my NDG postal code. Is the guide from the same source?

FYI: According to the Montreal Gazette, CJNT 62.1 was bought by Roger's and (pending CRTC approval) will switch to Citytv by the fall. As of next month expect to start seeing some Citytv content. Sounds good to me!

My Sony Bravia simply blanks out the entire TV guide when using my actual postal code. Been writing to Rovi for months to get them to fix it, but they aren't doing anything about it. I have been using US zipcode 05446 which fills out the TV Guide but for the US stations only. I am going to try switching it to the zipcode mentioned by Schoenbe to see if that adds montreal stations.

Wow, that's awesome! Citytv in Montreal? Can't wait. :D Metro 14 is mostly useless.

My Sony Bravia simply blanks out the entire TV guide when using my actual postal code. Hmm, I find that happens intermittently. Sometimes the entire guide is blank, other times everything is there (yes, including all the local Montreal channels). I thought it had to do with a server connection going down since there's no pattern to it.

I tried using "12919" as my zip code, and US as location last night. Oddly it completely wiped out ALL my digital channels from memory (replacing them with a handful of analog channels), forcing me to do a channel rescan.

Here's a thought. Zap2it.com was missing several US and local channels when I put in my postal code years ago. I wrote them and they corrected it, but ONLY for my specific postal code. Maybe it's linked to the same database? Send me a personal message and I'll give you my postal code to try. Please tell me if that fixes your guide.

The only thing Metro 14 is good for, is as an occasional re-broadcaster of ABC/WVNY-22--a lot of people have trouble picking up that station in Montreal. I don't, so I personally couldn't care less about the channel...it's almost as useless as CFTU.

I used to occasionally pick up CityTV on channel 65 once in a blue moon. It's far, far better than CBC, Global or CTV! I'll welcome it!

You may have been picking it up back when it was owned by CHUM. Since being acquired by Rogers, they've dumped most of their signature programming and have become more like CTV and Global. Also, Citytv isn't going to bring us any CW shows in HD like Metro 14 did.

Note that USA/12919 provides a complete program guide for the Montreal area when used in Windows Media Center. I understand you are using a Sony TV. Is it connected to the internet to retrieve a program guide? What is the service provider for the guide?

Luckily though we have the real CW on 44.2 in Montreal, even if it's not HD. :)

Yes, that's a normal behaviour for a Sony TV. Mine does that all the time. I tried changing the postal codes and zipcodes a lot and it was really annoying having to do a rescan every single time. Also, in my emails with Rovi they always say to wait 24 hours after chaning a postal/zip code before the guide will update itself, which makes these experiments quite lengthy, but they never work anyway.

Yep.

Yep... rovi.

Does your guide information ever disappear randomly? Often I'll press 'home' and then select 'TV channel list' and all the channels show "No data available" (ditto for the the guide, it's also blank). Wish there was a way to bring up the channel list with on button press, too bad you can't remap buttons on the remote. :)

Using my NDG postal code, my guide works for local and US channels. The only glitch at the moment is CFJP 30.1 appears TWICE in the guide (with the duplicate labeled as CFJP / 29.1; not sure if it's CFTU or CFJP causing the glitch).

I've sent you my postal code, tell me if your guide now works (minus the CFJP and CFTU glitch).

Incidentally, I'm BACK to having problems with CBC 6.1 and Global 15.1 reception problems. Are they doing more maintenance and experimenting on Mount Royal?

The intermittent freezing problem on 57.1 & 57.2 occurs only on my Bravia tv... RCA converter box and Panasonic dvr are unaffected.
Still intermittent freezing on 57.1 & 57.2.
Still no reply from WCFE

From what I read on Channel Canada (?), starting Monday June 4 the lineup for Metro14 changes but it's mostly stuff from Omni in Toronto. I guess we have to wait for ownership change and perhaps CRTC approval to change their mandate from multi-cultural to City-Toronto-repeater?

Thanks!

FYI the on-screen program guide info has been availble on CBC 6.1 as of yesterday.

It is similar to SRC 2.1 in that it extends several days but only has the program name, no program info.

CJNT's ethnic programming requirements apply on an annual basis. So by airing all ethnic primetime during the summer, they can squeeze in more American shows during primetime in the fall. Rogers might ask the CRTC to loosen some of the programming restrictions, but Canwest did that 3 times and were denied. For sure the CRTC would not allow CJNT to be turned into a Citytv Toronto repeater.

Is anyone able to receive WCFE (57-X) tonight, Saturday June 9th. I'm not able to receive it here in Pointe Claire?

I just did all the test. I remove my 13 dB attenuator on CBC, and still receive it but lower. I check this channel on other antenna.

I look up at the tv screen and CBFT just mention they had to close Mont-Royal transmitter for the night. They doing reparation.

They might be on Sherbrooke for the night and depending where you are, the signal is different.

No CBC here, since at least 4pm.

CBC working now, but I've been told no Global (15.1 or 15.2)?

CJNT, CBC, and CTV all working, so probably not the antenna?
