Yuprules 2011-08-31, 12:25 PM CKMI (Global) - could someone let me know if the signal strength has dropped of the last 15-20 hours? Weakest of all signals by far.
Nope, still the same crappy 4 bars out of 10 for me. Checked it this morning at 8AM.
anyone having trouble with CBC 6.1? The signal strength has dropped to 40% or lower (it sometimes cuts out now) since the switch from 20 to 21. Maybe it's getting interference from WVNY-22?
Used to be 10 out of 10 for me...now it's 7 out of 10 for me which is fine. Brossard here.
intravino 2011-08-31, 01:25 PM W52CD no longer has a license with the FCC. It's gone for good.
I used to get also WGMU ch39 analogue also but it's been dark since W52CD is off the air.
That's why WGMU's management did not answer my emails anymore about their stations.
That's the last nail in the coffin for them.
I asked some members here and at an other forum about their signal and everything is off the air.
They are done.
BTW, WWBI-27 old ION network feed is still ruining on cable in Plattsburgh. If you go to Dunking Donuts, they have the TV on ION.
cm3020prob 2011-08-31, 02:50 PM Another good candidate according to TVfool results was W49BI (analog 47) from Ellenburg, New York, but it went off air too. Damn.
Once CIVM-TV analog 17 goes off the air, try to catch W16AL on channel 16 from Burlington, its power is 43.2 kW.
Francois Caron 2011-08-31, 03:38 PM Using a Terk TVHDa, I'm also able to get Fox at night now that V has finally moved (Fox has Star Trek TNG reruns on .2!). Still can't get ABC, but it's no big loss for me. PBS 33 is still weak, but manageable. Everything else is coming in nicely including CBS (UHF 22) despite being located right next to CBC (UHF 21).
And because it's digital, as soon as the signal is locked in, the picture is clean, clean, CLEAN!!! Honestly, I was never able to get this kind of a performance with analog even on the best of days! I live in an apartment tower that has -- correction: *HAD* -- some SERIOUS ghosting issues!
dan_mtl 2011-08-31, 03:40 PM I thought CIVM-TV Analog 17 had gone last night, but today it's back.

I'm going to see if things don't improve once the rest of the analog channels sign-off for good tonight (minus CFTU; they got a 1 month extension). In the meantime, I discovered adjusting my UHF loop brings CBC up to 85%. The only catch is I then lose 30.1 / V from Sherbrooke but it's a fair tradeoff.
Incidentally with the shutoff of analog and recent moves, I'm noticing the American channels are starting to come in stronger. CBS and NBC are now at 100% (!!), and WCFE 57 is signal is no longer intermittent, it's at about 55-60%.
I hope I get as good results with the built-in tuner in my (eventual) new TV. Right now I'm using a cheap Access HD converter picked up from Futureshop.
poncho@home 2011-08-31, 07:38 PM 22.1 is not coming in for me as of now. Normally I can receive it in the evenings and late day, more problematic during daylight hours.
Is anyone having issues with 22.1 since CTV shut off its analog?
No problem for me. All stations are OK including WVNY.
macoulombe 2011-08-31, 09:10 PM No problem for me. All stations are OK including WVNY.
Yep, just started working for me as well! Yippie!
dorthensensens 2011-08-31, 09:27 PM CFTU analog down for anyone else or just me?
macoulombe 2011-08-31, 09:36 PM Yep, just started working for me as well! Yippie!
Spoke to soon... now WVNY disappeared again. Maybe they are still playing around with signalling?
CFTM analog is now off the air. Digital isn't up yet, but I'm already receiving TVA HD from Sherbrooke (though not completely stable).
Apple IIGS 2011-09-01, 12:11 AM It's just slightly after midnight, September 1st...
-CMBT-6 (CBC) analog has permanently signed off. They finished airing the world track & field olympics and cut out abruptly just as Little Mosque was starting. Like CFCF-12, they left with no fanfare whatsoever.
-CBTF-2 (Radio Canada) disappeared around the same time.
-CFTM-10 (TVA) signed off a few minutes later.
-CIVM-17 (Tele-Quebec) lost audio for several minutes after midnight but has since come back. It's about 10 minutes past midnight and the station is still hanging on....should disappear very shortly.
Which should leave CFTU-29 as the last analog station in Montreal, they'll be around until at least September 30th.
---
UPDATE: CIVM-17 finally disappeared around 2 AM (no sign of the digital replacement yet). The only channels the analog tuner in my 22 year old television is picking up right now is 29-CIVM and 39-TFO...the latter from Ottawa.
Apple IIGS 2011-09-01, 12:39 AM CFTM 10.1 digital just signed on, coming through strong at 88% in NDG (nothing for CIVM yet, and the analog signal is still present at 12:40am).
Confirmed CFTM 10.1 digital is up and 100% here in St-Laurent.
No CIVM-17.1 or 35.1 yet
Apple IIGS 2011-09-01, 12:52 AM Confirmed CFTM 10.1 digital is up and 100% here in St-Laurent.
No CIVM-17.1 or 35.1 yet
35.1 (CFJP-V) has been broadcasting on their permanent transmitter since Tuesday morning. They've moved from channel 42 to 35, but at 150w LESS power!
They're also still broadcasting from a top the same downtown building and antenna, so if you couldn't pick up their temporary digital transmission, forget about getting the permanent one. If you're lucky, you can alternatively get the Sherbrooke transmission at 30.1 / CFKS-V (at the moment I can't get any signal at all, it's totally gone).
@Apple IIGS
Was hoping V they would boost their power, what kind of idiot network would have less coverage then before makes no sense and they are sure go into the red even more, even little CJNT 62.1 is now 100% !
FlyingElvi 2011-09-01, 07:01 AM Anyone getting 15.1 (Global) ?
I'm in Verdun and I don't catch it anymore. I don't get 35.1 but I get 30.1 TQS from sherbrooke
CM4221 + CM7777
HDfan2 2011-09-01, 08:38 AM receiving WCAX 3.2 on 22.2 WVNY on my bravia
no reception at all of Global from Montreal or Orford, (but getting 7.1 ok)
Blackburst 2011-09-01, 08:58 AM CFTM-DT coming in very well. Same levels as CFCF-DT.
CFTU-TV 29 is still on the air. Signal is just terrible these days.
I have no signals for CIVM-DT (17.1 - rf26) and CFJP-DT (35.1 - rf35)
What kinda boobs run those two stations. Get your transmitters up on Mount-Royal with everybody else. If tiny CJNT-DT can get it done, then there is no excuse why these two don't.
WVNY-DT (22.1 - rf13), I get some sort of a signal, but still not enough to picture lock.
CJOH-TV 8 analog from Cornwall does come in stronger now. Also, WNPI-DT (18.1 - rf23) seems to be good these days. Especially in the evenings and overnight.
