which was also the Tele-québec / V antenna that is being sold to CBC.

Who owns what on the tower? It was my understanding that the CBC manages the tower on behalf of the consortium of CBC, CTV, and TVA who actually own the tower on land rented from the city.

Does each TV and FM broadcaster own their own antenna and transmisson line, and rent the space on the tower from the consortium?

I'm in Kirkland with a Channel Master 4228HD mounted to my chimney. It's pointed to Mt. Mansfield and has a cheap amp also.
I use Windows media center as a DVR but have no guide info for 12.1, 15.1 and 17.1. 12.1 and 17.1 show up on Zap2it. I use 05448 as my zip code.

I've opened a ticket with Microsoft to get 12.1 and 17.1 on and also with zap2it to include 15.1.

What are you guys doing for guide info?, without it the channels are worthless to me.

I know of a TV Guide ! ...LoL
The CRTC has not mandated Canadian networks to provide PSID like the US networks.
We live in a spoiled society that need a guide on our TVs to survive !

johnvan: You can look into other thread there's some answer to your Guide question.

If you would use Media Portal I would suggest you

or

PS: I'm using Media Portal mc2xml and I merge the Guide from the US and canada in one file and then map the channel.

Hi everyone,

Just wondering has anything changed recently with CBC HD in Montreal? For the past few days I am getting no signal but can still pick up analog signal.

Thanks

gnuman, CBMT-DT has switched from channel 20 to 21. You need to do a rescan.

With the transition deadline approaching, several Montreal stations are changing channels. Here's a synopsis.

CFCF-DT moves from 51 to 12.
CBMT-DT moves from 20 to 21. (This change has already occurred)
CIVM-DT moves from 27 to 26.
CFJP-DT moves from 42 to 35.

Additionally …
CKMI shut down analog on 46 and has moved to digital on 15.
CJNT is to shut down analog on 62 and will be moving to digital on 49.

CJNT 62 analog shut down.

It should be transmitting DT on 49 around 6 PM.

RE: Downbeat

And CFTM, despite being the most-watched station in Montreal, will be the very last to go digital on channel 10.

It comes as no surprise that their parent company ran ads in their local papers saying "Get rid of your rabbit ears on August 31" with Videotron offers.

CJNT-DT is on air since 7:00pm

It shows 49.1 and the signal is at 90% here in Crabtree (near Joliette)!

Yup, confirmed CJNT-DT 49.1 80% in St-Laurent ! :)

A very first look at CJNT-DT's signal as picked up in NDG reveals that reception in this part of Montreal could turn out to be problematic. Currently signal strength ranges from 15 to 95 % (heavily amplified). Lots of continuity and TEI errors occur even when the signal remains within the 70-95% range. We'll have a better impression once the signal has been stabilized.

Ignore that number, use the bitrate chart in the center of the screen. Or if you take an HTML Export, it'll be at the bottom.

The 65 Mbps number is the number out of the encoder before it's shaped to fit into the 19.39 Mbps stream. On some stations you'll see numbers as high as 90 Mbps in that space. (I may be screwing up some of the terminology; it's been a long day.)

CJNT-DT 49.1 is receivable, but erratic for me here in SLR.

Also, even though I am in direct LOS of Mt-Royal and the transmitters, my 'digital' signal often gets interrupted by the near constant traffic of airplanes going to Dorval. This is totally annoying as I never had this problem in 'analog'.

And since CBMT-DT switched to 21.1, I have lost reception of WCAX-DT 22.1!

(My antenna is indoors however -- so now I am missing CBS, ABC and FOX)

Anyone else have similar problems?

Signal is on the low side ( 40 % ) but stable in St Bruno on all my 3 HD TV'S - Toshiba X 2 and Dynex - this with my Antennas Direct DB 8 pointng between Mount Mansfield and CH 57.1 WCFE Plattsburg - DB8 UHF with Wade CH 13 10 element Yagi for ABC 22.1 ( VHF 13 ) fed into a CM 7777 pre Amp & a CM 3414 distribution amplifier .

We should also mention that CJNT-DT is the first station in Montreal to fully complete the transition to DTV: final broadcast frequency & final broadcast antenna.

In Brossard (J4Z 1X7,) 95%+ on CJNT-DT with my DB4 on roof (spitted with a CM3414) pointing more or less Mount-Royal.
