Thanks for the useful info Ogorek. I didn't know about the antenna placement for 2.1 and 6.1 - that's interesting. I will try your suggestions after the transition in September.

ogorek, I have a 4228HD (not modified) with a 7777 preamp. After this I have a cheep 4 ways amplified distribution block (from Future Shop if I remember weel). My antenna is outside at arround 35' pointing between Montréal and Mansfield. There's a lot of tall trees close to the antenna. That maybe why I have much better result in winter then in summer. Lately, in digital, I have only 3.1 (40%), 6.1 (85%), 15.1 (75%) and 57.1 (70%). I lost 17.1 this summer (I used to get it all year long since 2.5 years. This spring, 2.1 and 12.1 was low (40%) but stable. I hope that after september first I will be able to point the antenna direct on Mansfield and still have at least 2.1, 6.1, 10.1, 12.1 and 17.1 from Montréal. That way, I should have most of the Mansfield stations. I need also to have 57.1 cause that where I got the guide for my DTVPal DVR.

@danby

Yes, Global has been on the air since Wednesday evening.

You need to rescan or add channel 15 for Global 15.1

At last report, CFCF-DT on Channel 51 is still using the Bell communications tower adjacent to the Montreal Police stables.

That explains it. I am probably in the shadow of the mountain, sinc ethe stables are on the eastern side of the mountain. What a bonehead move.

Cantor, since CFCF is broadcasting in digital in Montreal area, they are using the physical channel 51 and your TV display 12.1 like everyone. (51 is same as 12.1 at this time it is just a question of mapping)

In September they will not transmit anymore the digital signal on channel 51 but on channel 12. At this time they will be really on the top of the Mont-Royal like CBC, SRC,... and your TV will display 12.1 again after a re-scan.

When CFCF-DT on Channel 51 came on the air, it would not have been possible to install the antenna on the Mount Royal TV/FM transmission site because of compliance problems with Health Canada Code 6 RF exposure regulations. That's probably why they went to the Bell site instead.
But when the transition happens at the end of the month, rest assured CFCF is expected to broadcast from the top of the tower on Channel 12.

CBMT-DT is now on RF channel 21. So, A rescan of your TV must be done.

I believe they are adjusting their antenna(change the frequency and power), they have problems in interference between the stations (Canadian and Canadian, Canadian and US).

No, not a problem. It was always planned for CBMT-DT to move to Channel 21 in post-transition.

For some reason, CBMT's signal is erratic here in south shore on it's new location (21). Will check back later in the day or after the transition... Am i the only one? I was able to get it on 20 without problem since 2005...

So does anyone know what facility CBMT is using on 21? They have a permit for 440-ish kW on channel 21, but to my knowledge CKMI and CBFT (and CBMT-20) are using the lower antenna at lower power under temporary authority. According to the IC database, I don't see similar temporary authority for CBMT on 21, at least not yet.

is CKMI #15 at full power, in final position, or what, their signal where i am off-island is atrocious!

it is of my understanding that, CKMI is using it's permanent transmitter, which is the old analog one that was just converted to digital but they are in a temporary antenna, they should eventually be broadcasted in the same antenna that they were broadcasted from in analog which was also the Tele-québec / V antenna that is being sold to CBC. After the transition, the antenna will undergo some restoration work before going back on the air. Their signal may be better at that point for you as the antenna that they will switch to is higher on the tower than the one that they are using right now.

Noticed that CFCF has its PSIP info available now ... but it seems like I've lost the one on SRC?
