kool_105, can you share your exact location with us, so we can compare your findings to ours? One location identifier good enough for determining reception in a particular area is the postal code. Thanks.

Postal codes can be the cause of privacy issues so I never ask that anyone post theirs to an online forum. Instead please give the neighbourhood name or the nearest major intersection. This helps all our members looking to compare their results with those of others nearby.

No reception here of CKMI Global ch 11, analog or digital

In Westmount, I can confirm that CKMI ch. 11 is not coming in on my crude SBGH, even if placed outdoors. The TV can see a signal, though, but it isn't strong enough to decode.

To be fair, the antenna is not designed for VHF (no NARODs or reflectors or anything) and channels 10 and 12 right next to it are, according to TVFool, more than 5 million times more powerful (they are around -7.0 dbm). I'm only 1.8 miles from the Mount Royal tower.

I can barely receive channel 7 analog in color from the same tower, so I shouldn't be surprised.

the analog channel is down, they apparently flash cut to digital before the deadline. they are now digital on channel 11, i do not know if they are at full power or not though

I'm still picking up Global Montreal (CKMI) on analog 46 here in NDG.

As for the digital on 11.1, while there is a detectable signal, it's NOT strong enough for my converter box to lock onto. I hope that changes, in less than 3 weeks we won't have an analog signal to fall back on.

you should be getting CKMI digital when channel 46 goes digital though. if i read right, it will be on dt channel 15

Apple IIGS,
this whole newsflash about Global broadcasting in digital on ch 11 (from Sherbrooke) is irrelevant for viewers in the Montreal area (it is misplaced in this thread, and has created confusion rather then being helpful). Global will start broadcasting in digital from Mont-Royal on ch 15 on or before Sep 1. Rest assured, this will be your (strong) signal!

Unlike the remainder of the stations that haven't started digital broadcasts, Global could start before Sep 1 since they have a separate antenna available. The remainder have no other option but to flash-cut on Sep 1.

I confirm the same in Vaudreuil 57 Mountain Lake PBS and 46 Global down. Somebody posted that Global will switch to digital mid-August. Maybe this is it. We will know as the day progresses.

WCFE-DT has posted a notice on their site.

Lightening strike on their transmitter

@ Cantor: Those 38.10x channels are sub-channel "glitches" that go with 57 digital (RF 38). With 57 down because of the lightning strike, they are gone as well. I used to have them too, but only when I scanned for 57

Global 46 analog still down as well in Pointe-Claire ... no news on the Global Montreal website either yet

August 16, 2011:

At 1:30 AM, CFTM-DT-10 and CFCF-DT-12 are both on the air. Signal here at 100%, 30db (SNR). Just a test or is it for good??!!!

My guess is it's a temporary setup. Maybe they are using the transmitters they've been using for analog. Perhaps they are moving/upgrading their digital transmitters.
