Hi Apple IIGS, both CFCF-12 and CBC are broadcasting from temporary transmitters, neither is up on Mount Royal yet

I can basically confirm the same issues everyone else has been having this past weekend with 5.1/5.2 in Pointe-Claire and NDG. Anyone know of any technical problems?

That's encouraging, I hoping once their transmitters are activited on Mount Royal the signal will be easier to pick up.

I'm in NDG and had those problems with 5.1/5.2. Don't think its my area, but rather the transmitter shutting down (or dropping power significantly) at the source. Interestingly CBC cut out last night in the same way just before 12:30 AM.

Anyone know when Global and Metro 14 (CJNT) are going to start digital broadcasting?

CIVM-DT back up for me too as of 6pm

Hi Apple, based on what I've heard on these boards, in theory if you were able to recieve CFCF analog signal on the island you should have no issues with digital reception post-transition. No idea when the other English and French language stations will transfer, but the deadline is Aug 31st. Hopefully CBC digital will move to Mount Royal before the playoffs!

@interdit_450 You are half right, CTV is broadcasting from a temporary tower...but the temporary antenna IS on Mount Royal :) CBC is still broadcasting on top of their office building.

It is also not at full power at the moment which is why CTV is spotty for some people. The thread is located here: http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=135984

Hello, my reception of WPTZ has been "intermittent" to say the least over the past few weeks.

One question: for those of you getting it bang-on, are there any issues with the program guide? Usually I don't get any info for 5.2 (THIS VT) but lately I've been noticing even when I'm at 2-3 bars and a continous picture I don't get a full program guide for 5.1 (missing time slots, no detailed info, etc).

This happening to anyone else or is it just a consequence of my spotty reception?

Same here, the stations coming in from Mt. Mansfield all seem to be lower on my TVs's signal meter by about 30%. No picture lock for WFFF-DT at this point. WCFE-DT from Lyon Mountain is coming in at it's regular signal strength. Also, no problems and no signal meter change with CFCF-DT. The image of CJNT-TV 62 though seems to have deteriorated a bit. Not sure if this is due to all the recent snow and rain we've gotten or due to the recent over night antenna maintenance that has been going on at the Mount Royal tower site.

All the Mount Mansfield stations seem to be back to normal for me. WFFF-DT is back this morning.

Also, last night, the Mount Royal transmitters where turned off. And, WVNY-DT was coming in very strong again. Usually I get no signal, or a bouncing un-lockable signal. If the Mount Royal transmitters get shut down again just past midnight, I would suggest others take a look and see if WVNY-DT comes in for them. Remember WVNY-DT is on channel 13 so enter 13.1 on your TV. No need to do a signal scan.

That depends on the tuner. For example, my RCA converter box requires a complete rescan in order to pick up any new channels. Its only concession is the option not to erase the existing channels.

Ditto for me. My stand alone Access HD converter box requires a complete rescan, as does my mother's 46" Samsung LCD TV oddly enough.

My converter will allow me to view channels if I key them in (i.e. 13.1, 19.1, etc) but you cannot save them to memory. Rescan required, or rescan to add new channels on top of the old.

WFFF-DT gone again for me. Anybody else having recent problems with WFFF-DT. I started having problems last Thursday.

Northbear...
The problem is analog CFCF-TV 12. They are blasting a analog signal that is effecting WVNY-DT on channel 13 next door. When CFCF-TV analog goes the way of the dinosaurs, CFCF-DT will take over that frequency. And the DT signal will be more in line with WVNY-DT's current DT signal.

I'm curious about the low-powered analog US channels 27 and 52 (ION and RetroTV). Are both these stations permanently dead?
