: OTA Station Status: Montréal, QC, Northern NY & VT
Real_cool 2011-02-27, 09:17 AM I got an email from WPTZ station:
------------------
Hi,
We are currently on low power due to equipment issues. We hope to be back up to full power soon.
Thanks for your patience.
--------------------
So it is a temporary problem from their side.
schoenbe 2011-02-27, 06:42 PM CTV just announced in their news cast more service interruptions from midnight to 5 am due to work on their antenna. Cable and satellite subscribers would not be affected. No mention of the fact that digital OTA service will not be interrupted (since digital antenna is not located on Mont-Royal main tower).
Yuprules 2011-02-28, 09:24 AM So sad, I had to watch Canadian commercials last night on CTV instead of NBC for the Academy Awards.
NBC / WPTZ still down this morning.
So sad, I had to watch Canadian commercials last night on CTV instead of NBC for the Academy Awards.
It was on ABC...
I guess i'm lucky i get NBC at 80 % just a bit lower than usual (100%)
mille 2011-02-28, 11:14 AM Lost NBC too....hope they come back soon.
BTW, last night, around midnight, the montreal analog channels were down, off air...tried to catch WNNY rf 13, nothing....I still have interferences from CKTM...can't wait for sept. 1...
channels 7, 9, and 11 from Sherbrooke were almost clear, not the case when channel 10 and 12 are on the air
dorthensensens 2011-02-28, 11:18 AM I did previously mention that I still got NBC but I too am now at around 70% signal where I was around 90-95% signal.
intravino 2011-02-28, 11:27 AM I still have interferences from CKTM.
Yes, I'm pretty sure that is the big problem for us for WVNY, even more on the Eastern South Shore. I pointed my 10y13s at Trois-Rivières once for fun and It was coming stronger then some local channels like CH 46 at my location with my CM4421.
I have an old friend that lives in France now but he was OTA fan in Montreal 20 years ago, I talked to him about WVNY at CH13. He's not surprised that we are having problems with WVNY. He told me that the T-R channels were very easy to get in Montreal. He used to watch them because of the different movies on the weekend. Not the case anymore, same content except local news.
Yuprules 2011-03-01, 01:19 PM @Kro I don't have ABC either LOL, guess I had to watch it on CTV over the air.
MTLOTA 2011-03-02, 09:47 PM Is anyone receiving NBC 5.1 or 5.2 or is it still down?
davebert 2011-03-02, 10:31 PM Looks like WPTZ is back at full strength.
mille 2011-03-03, 07:59 AM it's back for me too, but at 80%...
MTLOTA 2011-03-04, 08:37 AM WPTZ back up and running.
dorthensensens 2011-03-04, 09:28 AM Today is the 4th and CIVM is still down. It was supposed to be back up today.
interdit_450 2011-03-04, 10:04 AM WPTZ still seems a bit sketchy in Pointe-Claire and NDG ... no problem getting WCAX and the 2 PBS stations from VT
CIVM-HD is still down, I used to get excellent reception
cythraul 2011-03-04, 11:26 AM Work on the transmitter for CIVM-DT is still going on apparently.. they posted an update that it will remain down until the 8th...

Bob_Mtl 2011-03-05, 08:03 PM NBC is down again at my location tonight. I had good reception for the last couple of days.
Wirenut 2011-03-06, 09:19 AM It's been on and off for me like this for the past couple of months and I live on the south shore near Candiac where reception conditions are ideal for Mt. Mansfield. It's really frustrating since WPTZ used to be one of the most powerful and reliable signals of all the ones I receive. I hope they fix it soon.
seaspray 2011-03-06, 10:35 AM Signal is still up and down in St Bruno - shows as 46-49 0n my Toshiba TV signal meter- WFFF 44 and WCAX 3 are still at 90-95 % -Antenna - DB 8 with CM777 amp.
Blackburst 2011-03-06, 12:52 PM Last night I lost WPTZ, and WFFF. And WCAX was about 20% lower in signal strength. Today, everything is back!?!?!?
Apple IIGS 2011-03-07, 04:36 AM Been having trouble with NBC going out on occasion too.
I've recently had some luck picking up local digital stations, specifically CBC and CFCF12, but they're intermittent and not as strong as the stations coming from over the border. I'm actually juggling two indoor antennas just to pick them up, and barely.
Is CBC and CFCF transmitting from Mount Royal yet? Just wondering if this is as strong as we'll get them. I hope it improves.
