Several sources including Sun TV's website and the Zap2it OTA listings suggest Sun TV in London (CKXT-DT-2) is broadcasting on virtual Channel 52. I have been unable to get it on anything but Channel 19, the RF channel.

Has CKXT-DT-2 been on virtual 52 at all?
I've always receieved it on 19 as well.. could never figure out why so many different sources list it as 52.

Maybe it is on cable 52 somewhere, but anyways it is not on 52 OTA anywhere.

SunTV rfs
In my database...
Toronto 52 analog 66 digital -> 40 future digital
Hamilton 45 analog 15 digital
Ottawa 54 analog 62 digital -> 33 future digital
London 26 analog 19 digital (no analog feed)

So SunTV on 52 would be from the CN tower.

SUNTV is definitely on 52 analog out of Toronto. None of their digital stations should be showing it as virtual 52.

Have there been any changes (power, location, pattern) to CTV's channel 42Oil Springs transmitter? It used to be the channel that showed the best reception here (south of Chatham) but for some months now the reception has ranged from marginal to none. I can't remember exactly when the change happened, but it's been going on too long to blame it on the weather. Maybe it's the wind farm.

I've seen a similar drop in quality, and i'm in windsor, uglydukwling. they used to have a fuzzy signal, now i can barely get it. i doubt the wind farms would affect CKCO-TV-3 42 all the way out here.

Funny I was thinking recently that 42 CKCO reception has been awsome lately. I attributed it to my new antenna, but perhaps your on to something with their antenna changing contours?

I haven't noticed a drastic change here on 42, other than the normal which is that the channel tends to go in and out between a little fuzzy and barely beeing able to see an image through all the fuzz. When it goes I usually switch to 13. I can usually find a better signal on one or the other..

It might be recent tropo activity. I can get CKCO 42 fair to good in no tropo but when there is some WGGN-DT fills it bad with digital snow. WGGN is very infrequent anyways. I pretty much never watch CTV either...

OTOH Global 29 Sarnia is much worse than it usually is. I rarely check it but it's downright weak and snowy lately for some reason. Not sure if its just weaker or if PBS Toledo has been interfering with it. 29 analog tends to come in better at night taking out Wgte, even if i am facing Toledo.

FYI I get a similar effect as I described earlier here in London on Global 29.. usually good but sometimes fades out very bad.

i've had WGTE come in a few nights, and i've had CIII-TV-29 come in as well... so i assume the interference comes from CIII-TV-29 overpowering WGTE-DT... as for CKCO-TV-3 42... that could explain why i have seen poor reception lately (when tropo is wild)... but i thoguth WGGN-DT was on 22 instead.

Update from previous post #258 (http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showpost.php?p=982033&postcount=258)

WPXD-DT (50) (http://www.fcc.gov/fcc-bin/tvq?facid=5800#10002) application has now changed to granted for Southfield. Building out might begin whenever bankrupt ION Media gets some money to do so at some point?...

i think they'll build it fairly quickly with a loan from their current owners (Citadel Investment Group), as Detroit's a top-15 market, and represents a LARGE viewing area (around 5 million people). if the signal's in southfield, it'll even reach Toledo and Flint as fringe coverage (adding another million viewers). This will also add another 750K viewers on the canadian side that will now be within range of their signal on a regular basis.

the only downside is that this may cause interference for those that are trying to recieve WNWO-DT 49 from Toledo... i hope that's not the case.

Another downsides for WPXD on 50 are:
CHCH on 51. Which will cause interference for Sarnia and maybe Chatnam members.
Theres also WEAO (PBS) on rf 50 out of Clevelend. [180kW @ 305m Omnidirectional antenna]. Which may cause problems for Toledo users.

read ya l8r,
Al

what about WNWO-DT on 49?
I know leamington people might be screwed if WPXD and WEAO interfere with each other...
I doubt CHCH-TV-2 will have too much interference... when WKBD was on 50, i could watch CHCH as well... besides, i thought digital channels are immune to adjacent-channel interference...

just to solve things, CHCH-TV-2 will move to 24 (where it will be squeezed up next to CHWI-TV-25) after the canadian digital conversion...

I know leamington people might be screwed if WPXD and WEAO interfere with each other...True indeed. Lately WEAO has been coming in many nights even though it is a Tropo only channel here. In the winter though WPXD RF50 should be quite reliable I hope.

If your too close to Alvinston. CHCH@51 can knock out WPXD or WEAO. Plus, even DTV switch. There is still a unused channel 51 assignment off of the Alvinston transmittor.

I'm also looking forward to their move to Southfield, but have no info on when.
Soon hopefully...

Tonight I just noticed my TV has a new 7-4 entry for WXYZ now. It shows nothing and has no information beside it.. anybody else have this appear or is it just me?

I took a look and i'm still just picking up 3 stations from WXYZ. Even rescanned the RF and still 3.

Phil81

Correction. The 7-4 in question is linked to WJBK on RF7. WJBK 2-2 SD is totally gone now and this must have something to do with that.
