Phil81 2009-06-22, 10:49 PM About W66BV..
Yea I don't get that channel anymore since the winter, (leaves) but within the last few days it came briefly snowy b/w just enough to make out what was on the screen. Looks like a stuck slide of how they need new equipment to decode the signal since Jun 12th came.
I wonder how long it will stay like that. .. I remember reading a while back that another translator station like that somewhere else in the US had a stuck slide like that for over a year before anybody did anything about it! lol
RingtailedFox 2009-06-22, 10:57 PM oh, it's not a class-A station... it's just a normal low-power station that was allocated 47 for its digital signal, to become W66BV-D. That error message earlier was an error from DishNetwork (american satellite television provider), saying that the channel needs new smartcards... I think it simply beams the national Trinity Broadcast Network feed directly off DishNetwork to their transmitter atop the Renaissance Center. I know that Low-Power and Class-A stations are not required to go digital (though some are)... but i thought all stations on cahnnels 52 to 69 had to vacate those frequencies after june 12th...
Phil81 2009-06-22, 11:39 PM oops... I guess they fixed W66BV since the last time i picked it up. Its back to normal now.
Emerald_Boar 2009-06-25, 02:47 PM I guess it depends if TBN buys the rights to channel 66. If they do buy the rights to channel 66. They why cant they use it to broadcast a weak analog signal?
Except for VHFlo, TVs will no longer need to be manufactured with analog compatibly. So the future of TBN on 66 will be maybe 7 years.
Read ya l8r,

Nester5000 2009-06-28, 08:05 PM WJBK ch.2 and WDIV ch.4 are both done their nitelites now. W66BV analog seems to be coming in better now.
RingtailedFox 2009-06-29, 01:14 AM I just wonder how long until TBN moves W66BV to 47 as W66BV-D... Detroit's their largest market with an over-the-air presence... not that i watch them or anything (mother does now and then).
it's just so odd... i grew up with 2, 4, 7, 9, 20, 32, 50, 54, and 62.... nearly all of them are gone now.... at least, in their original positions....
Phil81 2009-06-29, 03:51 AM I think that W66BV will be forced to abandon its 782 mhz home for digital 47 once it's requested to do so by whatever company that will be using that freq. due to the channel auction. There doesn't seem to be a US nationwide LP/CA analog deadline yet.
I'm betting I won't get it digitally. It's usually weak and snowy at best, though the last week or so it's actually clearer and more watchable suprisingly.
There's already a ch 47 TCT digital at 1 MW and a TBN digital affiliate on ch 39 at 200kw in the Akron OH area. (it a WADL killer here) But somehow it got approval to move from 39 to 49 at a huge 900kw. I'm gonna have 2 ch 49's within 89mi. There goes any hope of watching the already super weak WNWO anymore.
RingtailedFox 2009-06-29, 02:16 PM The FCC needs to stop licensing same-channel stations closer than 120 miles... it's ridiculous... this isn't the early 1950s. Even if they were low-power, you'd still get interference (i see static from Toledo's WMNT-CA 48 behind W48AV's video)... Perhaps this is the FCC's way of trying to "cancel out" american signals that bleed over into Canada, at the CRTC's request?
Do you have any links for these proposed moves?
At least you'll gain WADL-DT if you lose WNWO-DT...

Donno if you know about this site yet but...
Head over to Rabbitears channel change request (http://rabbitears.info/chchg.php) page. WDLI is about half way down. Also lots of up to the date technical info site about every channel around here.... it's especially interesting to peruse through the Detroit/Toledo/Cleveland market listings and note just HOW directional most signals are, especially from Cleveland. Analog was nothing like this.
I couldn't agree more about the channel assignments stuffed so close together It's currently my *biggest* cause for channel loss. It's a lose/lose situation for us in Canada. Channels I had completely reliable in analog are brought to their knees in digital...excessively directional signals make them already very weak and super prone to co/adj-channel interference so all it takes is a small amount of tropo to loose everything.
Garth J 2009-07-08, 12:56 AM I was noticed that Erie's WICU has added the Erie CW station WBEP as a subchannel 12-2 on their station. WBEP was originally one of the subchannels on WSEE. There's no information about the switch, though, even on WICU's official site.
Nester5000 2009-07-08, 07:03 AM WADL-DT2 (ch.38.2) now showing sports instead of religious programming.
crockett18 2009-07-08, 09:01 AM Does anyone get 21.2, last i saw it was a mirror of 21.1, but there is nothing there and it always seems to mess my TV when I flip past it.
RingtailedFox 2009-07-08, 11:35 AM WADL-DT has gone from the "hand-me-down" station of Detroit into its "little station that could"... i find myself watching it more often than i used to. it's about time they get some decent programming on it!
Nester5000 2009-07-08, 01:11 PM Does anyone get 21.2, last i saw it was a mirror of 21.1, but there is nothing there and it always seems to mess my TV when I flip past it.
I noted that in another thread June 18th. Best bet is to do a re-scan or maually delete it.
RingtailedFox 2009-07-08, 01:55 PM i thought Granite Broadcasting (WMYD-DT's owner) was simply having financial or technical difficulties with the station... it used to be an SD simulcast, then World Championship Sports Network (now Universal Sports, on WADL-DT 38.2), and then an SD simulcast again...
RingtailedFox 2009-07-08, 08:55 PM Newsflash: W33BY (a class-a low-power station in Hamtramck, MI) went off the air today...not sure if it was technical issues or not.. WDWO-CA on 18 (which shares the same dearborn, MI tower) is still up....
PanaMark 2009-07-08, 10:30 PM A few channel's that don't see the light of day here in London, On.
WKBD Detroit RF 14 remaps to 50-1. The sheer strength of analog channel 14 CITS kills any reception of thus station.
WOIO Cleveland RF 10 remaps to 19-1. Analog channel 10 CFPL kills this one.
RingtailedFox 2009-07-09, 12:11 AM what are the post-transition chanels for CITS-TV-2 and CFPL? hopefully you can pick them up....
barring that, try UHF 30 (WBNX-DT Cleveland) or UHF 44 (WWJ-DT Detroit)... unless CJMT-DT from toronto (also on 44) kills it...
stampeder 2009-07-09, 02:45 AM what are the post-transition chanels for CITS-TV-2 and CFPL?The Industry Canada database is the place to get that:
http://www.user.dccnet.com/jonleblanc/Canada_TV_Stations/
CITS = 38
CFPL = 10
Phil81 2009-07-09, 03:07 AM WOIO Cleveland RF 10 remaps to 19-1. Analog channel 10 CFPL kills this one.
This is unbelievable with a mod'd 4221HD! I'm lucky if I see this channel once a month if that for a min or two, and I have an actual vhf antenna. About what time of day did this happen there? (WOIO + WKBD)
Conditions must have been just so briefly to dampen CFPL and allow WOIO in. Even people In Cleveland area can't get this 3.5kW channel. Only once has this happened to me with strong tropo WNEM CBS 5-1 got in on RF 22 / crushed the normally too powerful CIII 22 Global in this area.
