What I did to get the best outcome is to install a Winhvr 1250 in the system and add another antenna a 4 bay bow a look a like clone ( no pre amp ) aimed it the other way now I get the cbc 58.1 and BCTV 22.1 so a better sollution. So a two card two tuner sollution, the other card is the wintv 1600 which is setup only for 33.1 running off the 4228 , pre amp for the Olympics. Very lucky my wife likes the OTA quality as a corner of the fromt room has both these antennas.:)

This from the CRTC website:

The Commission approves the application by Rogers Broadcasting Limited (Rogers) to change the authorized contours of the digital transitional television programming undertaking CHNM-DT Vancouver by increasing the average effective radiated power (ERP) from 772 watts to 4,300 watts (the maximum ERP will increase from 1,354 watts to 8,300 watts), by increasing the effective height of antenna above average terrain from 615 meters to 670 meters, and by relocating the antenna.

And before anyone asks - no, there is no update as yet regarding CKVU-DT. :)

Small correction.
CITY-DT has been on air in digital for years and is broadcasting from CN tower.
The station here is CKVU-DT.

Now that the CRTC has changed the licencing procedures, I wonder if CKVU needs to reapply for digital by current licence amendment or CRTC will yet issue them separated digital licence (which they no longer do) or just give them current licence amendment automatically. I hope they don't need to reapply all over and go to the start of the queue.

According to paragraph 12 of Broadcasting Regulatory Policy CRTC 2010-69 (http://www.crtc.gc.ca/eng/archive/2010/2010-69.htm), "Licensees of transitional DTV undertakings should file written requests to have their digital transmitters authorized pursuant to the revised licensing framework and to have their transitional DTV licences revoked."

As I said in the CRTC Revises Licensing Framework For OTA DTV in Canada (http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?p=1060447#post1060447) thread, it seems like a make work project to me.

Are you sure of that??

and by relocating the antenna.

FYI, they will be using their own tower, sharing an antenna with CHAN-DT (Global), instead of the CBC tower.

Yes. CITY-DT was the first DTV station in Canada (launched in 2003) and broadcasts from the CN Tower in Toronto. The Vancouver CityTV DTV station will be CKVU-DT.

Benjamin, all stations on the Citytv network use the same Citytv logo and designs, as you can see: CKAL Calgary (http://www.citytv.com/calgary) CKEM Edmonton (http://www.citytv.com/edmonton) CITY Toronto (http://www.citytv.com/toronto) CKVU Vancouver (http://www.citytv.com/vancouver) CHMI Winnipeg (http://www.citytv.com/winnipeg)

Didnt realize it was up and running that long. I recall looking at Toronto DT
offerings about 5 years ago and cant recall CITY-DT or CKVU-DT.
Memory most likely.

Clear now? :)

Its 13:36 and there is absolutely no signal on 20.1 CHNM-DT (remaps to 42.1). Maybe they're moving their transmissions to the other tower today?

EDIT: at 13:38 they came back up with no noticeable difference in signal parameters/stats that I can see. I haven't anything about service work going on.

It has been that way for me too chnm amd at times 33.1 and the wierd thing it is the same time for both I don't think that it is gone I think there is some kind interference happening
I did call chnm but it has been a few days with no return call which is for them a long time I will post anything they say about the the changes.

Nope, when I checked CHNM-DT's signal readings they were all gone (signal strength, SNR, error rate) but the other DTV stations on Mt. Seymour were all up and running just fine.

It looks like the CRTC decision for CKVU application will be coming sometime this week.

Stampeder,

Interestingly, there is a small but certainly noticeable improvement for me on this channel. I used to got frequent drops, but since that off-air time, my signal strength on that station has gone up about 10%, and just enough for me to get a good lock most of the time.

Very interesting, keithr386. I was thinking at the time of the dropout that maybe they had done a flash cutover to the other antenna... I saw no difference in signal qualities from here, but you're farther away so your change is quite significant.

Anyone else see a stronger signal from CHNM-DT?

Might just be the good weather too my signal for 20.1 reamains the same as before the noted off on a few days ago
I did the morning scan and got a 58.8 wierd 65% signal no lock tough.
The 58.8 turned out to be 58.1 just a wierd scan I guess.

Looks like you may be right. My OMNI went back down again, and I cannot get a lock anymore.
