Both 8.1 & 32.1 are both gone for me. Signal strength both at like 30%.
Can anybody confirm problems they're having as it's real odd for both to be
having problems in New West ?

32.1 looks good to me: on air and at full strength. I don't receive 8.1.

Has anyone else had CBC 2.1 cut out on them at around 10:01-10:02pm the past few days?

Not sure if it's just my tv, but I just "lose" the channel during the start of the national, and have to rescan for it.

I'm using a daytek tv with an ATSC scanner in the west end with a clear line to mt seymour, my tv doesn't tell me the signal strength etc...

There has been some issues with the HD feed coming from Toronto in the last couple days. One problem was the one you are talking about.

Today I too found my system reported cbc at 58.8 a first for me and over the past month or so I have barely seen CBC HD just assumed it was my variable reception situation, but his confirm deeper problems.

Wasn't CHNM supposed to go digital by March 31st, I don't believe they are on the air yet. Did they get another extension?

Back a while a go, I did manage to speak to a person at Channel M who was behind its pursuit to go digital. It was a Channel M's V.P. Operations.
Channel M's engineering department was though completely unaware of this station's plans or possibility to ever go digital and had been stunned by my questions when I spoke to them.
Since then, when I last contacted the station (now OMNI), which was also about 1/2 a year ago now, I was told that this person (the Operations VP who was behind this quest) no longer worked there. I was told that the only person who would even know anything about going to digital, would the station's president. Later I read about him applying to CRTC to extent the digital licence expiry date (it would look really bad to loose this license after so much past effort) and I guess that this decision is now solely on Rogers executives in Toronto.

My guess is that the next station to go digital in Vancouver will be directly before the Canadian mandated analog shutoff date (and even then only if CRTC takes much tougher approach at the issue).

According to Roger's supplementary brief for the OMNI stations (found as an attachment within in Broadcasting Notice of Consultation CRTC 2009-113 (http://www.crtc.gc.ca/eng/archive/2009/2009-113.htm)), they plan to have erect DTV transmitters in Vancouver and Victoria by 2010. Now if this plan comes to fruition is another story.

VBC1 if that person was AR he was eager to have Channel M on DTV for quite awhile.

Alas, nowadays I get the exact same responses from Rogers as you did since they took over, so I just don't ask the local OMNI staff here in Vancouver for up to date info. That's not an insult to them, and I would love to have them here as members!

Although 2010 is a long time away, the bit of good news in Roger's filing is that they're thinking of building CKVU-DT's transmitter on Seymour. I'd imagine having one transmitter on Saltspring and one on Seymour is much more costly than having both on Seymour.

I've seen ads on OMNI for the 2010 Olympics, maybe they're aiming to have HD in place for that.

I should have mentioned in my previous post that Rogers says that in their supplementary brief for the CITY TV stations, that they also plan to erect their CITY DTV transmitter in Vancouver by 2010. Presumably it will be coordinated with the OMNI transmitter.

He has 2 original CM4228s stacked. He's also in South Surrey, so he's got quite an advantage over all of us. ;)

Stampeder I doubt that I will be able to get komo at my location in Walnut Grove. But I think I might be able to get some US signals from another location at 80th and 125st. I have one question before I start building an SBGH or DBGH, am I going to have to build a NAROD antenna because these channels seem to be in the VHF range? My concern with building one of those would be losing CBC HD because it falls outside of the range at 58 when I read that the cap will be 51. I ask this because my goal is to pick up KCPQ and also clear up my analogue A Channel and analogue CKVU. I am already getting the 3 HD local channels with near 100% with a ghetto dipole as I mentioned in another thread so my focus now is to work on those US stations.

before I start building an SBGH or DBGH, am I going to have to build a NAROD antenna because these channels seem to be in the VHF range?I'll address that question here for everyone in the Lower Mainland so that you know what the post-transitional VHF-HI/UHF allotments will be. I gathered the data from the Industry Canada database (http://www.user.dccnet.com/jonleblanc/Canada_TV_Stations/), which I encourage you to look through periodically for any changes in station status or channel re-allotment:Real Channel Call Sign Network Real Location

NOTES: I might have forgotten one or two stations stations might have been alloted one real DTV channel during the transition but a different one post-transition, so don't assume that they'll be the same during and after this list is what the TV spectrum will look like after the transition there will be no VHF-LO DTV stations in our viewing area only Real Channels can be used to choose the best antenna(s) since remaps are only done inside your tuner this list is not to say that you will get all of them, just that even if you don't get a digital lock on some of them you might see digital carrier activity on them with a good signal meter or a pro grade signal analyzer the U.S. stations will all be switched over by June 12, 2009 although some have already transitioned CBC, CTV, and Global have DTV transitional stations already operating on Mt. Seymour all Canadian stations have until August of 2011 to occupy their post-transitional allotments the Real Locations of some stations on the list might change before the transition period ends given the current situation in Canada's broadcasting industry it is likely that some Canadian network affiliations will be changed/dropped/replaced by then too

CRTC made public today that Roger's has recived a extension to begin CHNM-DT broadcasting:

http://www.crtc.gc.ca/eng/archive/2009/2009-323.htm

The were granted an extension to August 31, 2009. The application was approved by the CRTC on March 6.

This is at least the second extension. Let's hope that they are able to make it this time - hopefully with CITY-TV along with it!

so much for the "this is your last extension" tough talk on the previous extension.

I wouldn't be surprised if they end up doing a flash cut-over to digital on Aug 31st, 2011.
