I just checked and at my location aimed directly at Mt. Seymour with LOS from North Delta the signal levels for CIVT-DT are the same as all along. I get a solid lock with no dropouts but the signal is much weaker than CBUT-DT or CHAN-DT.

It might be the clear, sunny air mass helping out your signal strength, CHrisCHu.

I had increased reception of CTV for a few days too but alas it dropped back down to it's measly 10%. Global and CBUT were unaffected.

Oh that was definitely weather-related then. Here's hoping they power up soon!

Has anyone seen any mid-February changes as a result of US channels switching around?

queerasmoi - I've not noticed any changes. We have to wait until June 12th before we see any change, that's the new switchover date. All the stations that are changing their broadcast frequency are using that date.

Does anybody have information on when CityTV Vancouver will transition to digital? Will the transmitter be on Mt. Seymour?

Hi,

Does anyone know if CHAN_DT will start transmitting EPG info? Right now all my MythTV setup gets is "DTV Program" for every half hour block :-(

Even worse, SchedulesDirect does not have a DT lineup; I might given time hack something togeather by mapping the analog lineup.

With a CM4228 in my office window, facing more-or-less south, I get the usual suspects:

CBUT-DT
CHAN-DT
KVOS-DT
KBCB-DT
CIVT-DT

During the summer I hope to get it roof mounted, ideally I want to pull in the Seattle stations (I am willing to add a pre-amp, and another CM4228 if needed)

For Schedules Direct I just map the analogue listings for CHAN to CHAN-DT in MythTV. Works perfectly. :)

What is your location (city, nearest major street corner)

You *may* have to set the xmltvid for CHAN-DT. Use CHAN's. mythweb makes this not terribly painful to do.

If you're fortunate and everything works the first time, you may not have to.

Hi Stampeder,

I'm at 46a & 200th st in Langley, my office is a spare bedroom. I'll try mapping the analog Schedules Direct data.

The quality of the OTA signal is amazing.

Thanks jbr, looking into it :-)

In case anyone needs the xmltvid's:

CBUT 10100
CHAN 10050
CIVT 17594
KVOS 10809
KBCB 15657 (I wish this was a real channel instead of a shopping one)

Once I plugged those in, removed the EIT scan options, and ran mythfilldatabase, I get the Schedules Direct guide data for listings after midnight tonite :-)

I am just guessing but I imagine that they would be looking at testing thier system soon as the March 31 09 dead line is fast approaching now :)
I really wonder if they have got thier hardware installed yet?
Now is as good a time as any to look into that :)
A month to go before the deadline for CHNM-DT. Has anyone heard anything about their DTV outlook? I've emailed the only contact I know at OMNI, hopefully he's still around after Rogers bought Channel M. I'll post what I hear, if I hear something.

(I don't know if this is the right thread for this, but here goes...)

Does anyone experience audio problems on Global BC (CHAN-DT)?

They are basically pops and clicks in the audio, particularly over music or loud voices. They are present on both the OTA broadcast and Shaw channel 199, and have been for many months.

I called Global and Shaw about this, but apparently no one else has reported a similar problem.

I get that all the time. I have a HD PVR. The popping is significantly worse if you're connected via HDMI.

I have sent emails left phone messages and saddly not a single reply from two different contacts on thier web page.

With the Economy the way it is, I suspect a lot of plans will be
put on hold, or even dropped.

Last night (Tuesday) Global's digital signal was off the air.

The signal on cable was bad - lots of dropouts, weird lighting/contrast.

An oddity - at 8:30 PM when This Hour Has 22 Minutes started on CBC 2.1, the show was windowboxed (both letterboxed and pillarboxed, correct aspect ratio but black bars on all sides). This continued for the first few minutes, until partway through the Ignatieff skit, when it expanded to fill the full screen.

Clearly there are some people asleep at the switch.
