growler I think even with the lower rate at this time you are the lucky one getting all three stations. For me every Canadian Station is only from a bounce as my 4228 faces southerly my evaluation if moderate changes is not a good referrence point.
However todays weather is great for the skip as it is gianing in strength.

Is anyone else getting some shows displayed smaller size? It looks like 16x9 widescreen but it is zoomed out with black bars all around it. To make it look right I have to use the zoom option on my tuner. Does anyone know why this is? Indiana Jones on Wednesday was broadcast like this last night and I have seen some other shows like this too. Meanwhile there are other shows like House that seemed to be broadcast in the full normal HD I am used to.

EDIT:
The office was broadcast like this tonight. It doesn't look like it was HD either. Anyone have any insight?

Hi All:

I have just made some changes to the PSIP generated at our transmitter, and now can receive our signal on a Happauge Wein-TV USB stick, couldn't before, so I thinkI'mn close.

CHCH, CIII, and CHAN all have approximately the same problem with the PSIP gereration.
We're using a Snell & Wilcox Memphis HS Encoder making the 19.39 mb/s ASI stream. It's putting in the basic information about the stream, but not putting in ATSC PSIP information. That stream is transported from our Network Center in Calgary to the stations. The device we're using to convert the stream to what the Larcan transmitter wants (SMPTE 310) is a Tandberg TT6120. It can pass all of the PSIP/PSi information through it, but can only generate the PAT and TVCT tables.

That leaves the STT, EIT tables not being generated. Some sets or decoders require those tables to be able to decode the 8VSB signal.

Even getting the co-ordination between the TS, PIDs, TVCT, and PAT corect has be quite a challange

Hope that all helps

well, i used to receive Global on Channel 1081, according to my software, whatever that means. This morning I am receiving it on 1322.

I'm just using the WinTV software that came with my USB tuner.

Vic, I sent this to Dave at CHCH a few weeks ago - maybe it would do the trick for Calgary?

Same here, mostly no signal for 22 CHAN-DT, although it jumps up to normal strength once in a while.

Same problem for me ...signal on 8.1 jumping from normal 84% to below 59% (my 9200 cuts off at 59%) for the last week.
CBC and CTV still stable.
I recall CTV signal was jumping the same way when it was first turned up.

22 CHAN-DT seems to be back.

But now 33 CTV seems to be a lot weaker, and I can no longer pick it up with an indoor antenna.

I have lost the signal for CBC Vancouver as of a few minutes ago. It jumps back and forth from zero to 60% for me with no signal. CTV and Global are fine and steady. Anyone else have this problem?

Update: 20 minutes later at 10:33pm and the signal is back and steady with a picture. This is weird since CBC has always been a strong steady signal for me.

Hi airmike,
I had the same issue as you described with CBC HD. I didn't try it again to see if it's back for me. Will check tomorrow morning.

Just to ensure that I'm not needlessly rescanning, is CHAN 22 DT no longer broadcasting?

Yep, they're still broadcasting on 22.2 if your tuner can receive them despite the PSIP problems.

Has anyone phoned the station engineers to see when they anticipate starting digital broadcasting by 2009 - or will they wait until 2011?

Also, any bets on whether we will be able to pick up more DTV stations from Seattle after Feb 2009. I can get most of the analogue stations from Seattle - albeit many are grainy with my Channel Master 4228, but only KCPQ-Fox and a Christian station KBTW - very reliably digitally. Will the boost in power after 2009 be enough for them to be receivable in Vancouver?

Has anyone phoned the station engineers to see when they anticipate starting digital broadcasting by 2009 - or will they wait until 2011?Actually we have a great resource right here in this thread - Jason from the CBC. :) Since Channel M uses the same broadcast site as CBUT-DT he'd know what's going on, so if he hears or doesn't hear anything about Channel M he lets us know (see Post #668).
