: OTA Station Status: Vancouver, Victoria (Closed - use 2011)
danbcman 2008-04-13, 02:33 PM Here is New Westminster I get
CHAN DT 97% perfect picture and sound.
CBC DT 40% no lock
CTV DT 14% no lock
What ever CHAN DT is doing it is certainly the best and the DTV I will tuning in.
stampeder 2008-04-13, 04:01 PM In a high reflection area like yours, danbcman, the different frequencies seem to have different properties than if you had line of sight.
danbcman 2008-04-13, 04:22 PM Ya it is so narrow of a path for my reception to happen and the neat thing is it is where I get the best KCPQ and the rest of Seatac so in a way is neat as I aim once recieve twice :)
danbcman 2008-04-13, 04:32 PM wow there needs to be some vast changes as I look at the states I see so much power they use here tiny drops
Random Dude 2008-04-14, 12:00 PM Just wondering, are there any major upgrades/additions being done over at CTV Vancouver? I'd like to think so seeing how they're going to be the main broadcast centre for the 2010 games.
eecubed 2008-04-14, 03:12 PM Congrats to global for going live.
What's the next channel to go digital in the lower mainland? Are we still expecting channel m or has that been sidelined? Any news for CKVU?

I think it's great news that Global is online now. The more the merrier. I definitely enjoy watching DTV OTA. Might be awhile before we see another one come on from Mt. Seymour.
Jason, you might have a bit more insite than the rest of us do on the following, but if you were to hazard a guess as to which station will be the next to go "live" with a -DT suffix, which station would it be?
danbcman 2008-04-14, 04:17 PM Well from the conversation I had with the engeneer at CHEK TV a while back they weren't sure if htey were going to move on DT right away but since then ownership has changed and E! is from what I understand live back east so I would say E! west may be next I go even further to say right after the CHAN 22 is setup and stable.:)

Hard to say, I can't see anyone being proactive on this one. I think they are waiting until they are forced to shut off the analog. Maybe our CBC french?
Channel M's transmitter is at our CBC site, I haven't heard any plans for them to go digital, although they were just sold to I think Rogers broadcasting, so I'm not sure of their plans.
blakew 2008-04-14, 11:32 PM With Channel M being Rogers now, have you heard anything about them moving (analog) to the Rogers tower on Mt.Seymour? I can't imagine the lease on CBC's tower being cheap. Or would they make that move for digital only, when they were forced to? I would think they're clock is ticking, being that they have a digital transitional licence. I remember reading on a CRTC website that Rogers bought the -DT license as well.
Insomniac 2008-04-15, 12:03 AM Still only two OTA channels here in Mill Bay; the Bellingham ones. Not encouraging...
BTW, I get KVOS on 35.121 instead of 35.1.
bwalter 2008-04-15, 11:31 AM I don't seem to be receiving CIVT-DT right now. CBUT-DT is still coming in fine though.
Cooter 2008-04-15, 11:34 AM Same here.
bwalter 2008-04-15, 11:38 AM Looks like CIVT-DT is back.
lordhelmet 2008-04-15, 01:24 PM Wouldn't it be nice if CIVT switched their analogue to ch33 and gave ch 32 their full power for the Olympics?
levibluewa 2008-04-16, 01:19 PM Danman--re 43.1; signal this morning 17, also not much activity or fluctuation.
danbcman 2008-04-16, 01:30 PM Ya 43.1 it must some wierd signal from all that around me
stampeder 2008-04-16, 02:12 PM I'm not getting even a hint of signal on 43.1 so I'm guessing it must be some odd reflection of CHNM's analogue signal or carrier on 42.
xboy360 2008-04-24, 03:09 AM Is anyone having trouble receiving CBUT tonight? Normally I can, but tonight it's cutting in and out??
I'm located in Port Moody.
stampeder 2008-04-24, 12:39 PM I wasn't watching after midnight but prior to that I didn't see anything unusual about CBC's broadcasts. Are you referring to CBUT (analogue) or CBUT-DT (digital)?
