I'm pretty sure it was atmospheric but I'll monitor 32.1 for awhile today.

I have been watching 32.1 the meter on my system and there is a little signal coming in very intermitant. 18.1 KCPQ is over the last few days now coming in and locking for a minute or two then drops off then repeats this cycle it is sooner between locks and and longer on the lock.

After reading the forecast at http://www.dxinfocentre.com/
Tropospheric Ducting Forecasts
The info shows a good March 17th and 18th well reading this site and seeing the results I have been getting well they seem to strongly related.
also 32.1 is no activity now.

I've got my boss and other company from work coming over later today for the Canucks game in HD. I'm gonna look like the biggest chump if they come here expecting HNIC in HD and we have to watch it SD via shaw.

I've left my TV on 2.1, it's showing a strong signal but nothing is on the screen. Momentarily it plays regular programming, but then it goes black within a minute. I've even tried the real channel of 58.8, but that doesn't give me a picture either.

Anyone else experiencing this right now?

It is up with full signal strength and clean signal, but no programming.

It'll lock as usual but somehow there is nothing being sent, so its further up the CBC HD chain than the transmitter. CBC analogue and SRC are doing fine, so its not the Mt. Seymour site either.

I just visited London Drugs on Robson, and saw that CBC-HD via Shaw is working... just my luck that on the one Canucks home game in HD this season is the same day I'm unable to watch anything in HD on CBC. I'm very crossed with CBC right now. I left a message in the morning on their technical fault voicemail, nobody has called me back.

Probably nothing to so with any Ontario issues but I'm getting 94% signal strength but no picture on CBC Vancouver during the Leafs Penguins game. It seems fine on analog channel. Anyone else?

I thought I was going crazy. I've been waiting for my cm4228 before spending a bunch of time on this but with the game tonight I thought I'd fool around with it a bit. I was playing around with one of my lousy antennas and my 9 year old is yelling out to me "40%, 50%, 60%, 50%, 60%" but no picture. Last time I had a good picture at 20% and I'm watching the shopping channel at 30%. What the heck! I tried the auto channel check on my samsung 260 and no lock. I'm glad this problem isn't me! I hope they sort this out in the next hour or so.

I was all primed to see the Canucks on HNIC tonight too. I sat down an hour ago and flipped the AT3705 onto DTV but all I got was a blue screen. Did a channel scan for digital channels and it said nothing found. So, I'm watching it in SD. :(
I thought my TV's ATSC tuner was broken, but seeing your messages here at least gives me hope for my TV. Thanks for posting.

It's back on-air now... I don't know the exact time programming came back on-air, but when the Canucks lost, I thould I'd take a look, and found that it was. So sometime between the 2nd intermission and the end of the game.

A few updates about new channels in the area...

I contacted BCTV, spoke to engineering. They told me they have been working on wiring and upgrading the station facilities to HD for last whole year, which is a huge job, basicaly building a whole new tv station considering the efforts. There is so much to do, they are unable to give any estimate to the date, but guess nothing before fall or later. I asked about the transmitter strength, they said they don't know because they have so much to do, they did not even get to ordering a new transmitter yet.

I contacted Channel M, spoke to VP, operations. He said they are putting the plans for HD completely on hold, awaiting the CRTC's decision regarding the OTA outlook, which, he said, is expected for November. Therefore, they will not make any HD effords until after the report is out, after November.

I am still not getting any signal from TV12 either (on ch35).

I got a reply from a CBC technical engineer yesterday. He said that crane work on the condo "TV Towers" required CBC to move their satellite dish (disconnecting their HD feed from Toronto). They were hoping to get it back online for the Canucks game, but only managed to get it working just before the game ended. He also said that Shaw knew ahead of time of this disruption and switched their CBC-HD to CBC-HD east, not off of CBC's OTA signal like they usually do.

I also chewed the fat, about digital OTA. He thinks the CRTC will, like VBC1 suggested, release the report after they return from their summer hiatus. He told me that he himself uses OTA for HD, and doesn't even subscribe to basic cable.

I asked him about Channel M's digital OTA plans, since they use CBC's tower. He said he hadn't heard anything from their guys yet, so he suspects it'll be 2008 before we see Channel M-DT.

We also talked about CTV's low power, and Global's digital OTA non-existance. "Low power like CTV would be better than no power".

I just posted about the HNIC black screen (April 7) in the CBC HD thread so that Marc will see it, so I moved a couple of posts from this thread to it:

As I left GM Place this morning at 12:40am, I ran into a CTV cameraman. He put me on camera and asked me about the game. I later asked him about the camera he was using (if it was HD). He said it wasn't HD, and that it would be about the end of summer when the studio cameras went HD. He seemed excited about the upgrade, but not as much as I was.

So, if we don't have more OTA DT channels by the end of the year, at least we'll have some local news in HD.

Hey, I made it onto the news!

Click on ctv9.ca, click on live streaming news, then click on thursday. I'm 2mins40seconds in.

In hindsight, I should have asked him to record me saying "You're watching CTV cable 9, DT 33"

I'm the guy who said something along the lines of "it was a really long game, but I'm just glad they won". And yes, I'm wearing a Canucks jersey :)

Now I know how blakew looks! :D

Anyway, I'm still a little sore that they aren't showing the games in Dallas aren't HD. I mean, the away games of the other Cdn teams (Pittsburg and Detroit) were in HD.

Go Canucks Go!

Is anyone else getting a signal from the CBC HDTV towers on Seymour? I haven't had any reception now for a couple of days, and can't tell if it's me or them! :)
