Our 8300 PVR is a rental and I just noticed that its remote, which is used almost exclusively by our teenagers  is now missing the smoke plastic curve shield found at the top of the unit. Of course it is only a matter of time until the now exposed 'diode thingys' break off :(. Given its condition can I return this remote to a Roger's Store for a no hassle replacement?

I've replaced old, worn out remotes with no hassle. They usually just toss it in the bin and give you a new one. Sometimes they check your account, but you have a rental box so it won't be an issue.

You were exactly right. The rep saw me approach with my remote in hand. He reached down and handed me a new one and an single page instruction guide and took mine and tossed it in a bin. I turned and left. He didnt ask to verify my account. Heck I could have slipped him the remote from our bought Rogers HD PVR ;).

Yes, of course if it's a rental. If you own, you have to buy a new one. $25 at Rogers Plus stores and $35 at The Source (By CC). But if you pay the $3 at Source, you can get their warranty plan that replaces it if things go wrong. Given how easy that is, I got it. So if something breaks (right now it's the plastic tab that keeps the battery cover on), I can go there and have it replaced.
