For years we've used a leading brand of dishwasher detergent powder with excellent results. My son suggested we try the same company's dishwasher tabs as they are much more convenient to use. Big mistake as all our spoons came out with a dark blue stain that's very hard to remove and a couple of old knives came out of the dishwasher completely black except for the handles!
I thought maybe the discolouration was caused by the red "powerballs" built into each tab so I bought a tub of their "Classic" tabs (no powerballs) and we are still getting a bluish tinge to the cutlery.
I've sent several emails to the company and explained the problem and in return they offered the following suggestions: not to overload the dishwasher, use very hot water, don't allow spoons to nest together etc. etc. I replied that I was well aware of proper dishwasher loading as we've had at least three beginning with a Sears Kenmore purchased in 1968. Their solution to the problem was to send us a coupon to purchase other products they produce. However, the coupons are only good when used in the USA!
Has anybody else run into this discolouration problem?
