I just bought the Wii. I bought the base unit which came with one game. What accessories are a must?

-Rechargeable batteries for the Wii Remote
-Classic controller if you want to download Virtual Console games
-Second Wii Remote (one comes with Wii Play which is only $10 more than the Remote itself)
-Component cables for 480p resolution
-Wii Points Cards

Gamecube wavebird wireless controller if you want to play gamecube games.

i always found rechargables a pain. you can get a pack of 32 AA's for like 8 bucks now. I had to change the batteries maybe once every 2 months on heavy play. just make sure you recycle the battereies when there done!

A Wavebird controller is just about a must if you want to play Gamecube or Classic games, but good luck finding one.

Also, while I agree that normal rechargeable batteries or rechargeable kits for the Wii are a pain, I love the drop-in type chargers where you simply drop the Wiimote into a charging stand. My controllers are always charged this way, I never have to remove the battery cover and batteries to charge and the cost of the charger was about the same ($20 - $30 if I recall) as more traditional kits.

i agree on the recharge kits but the problem is some of us dont have that much room for 2 charging bases plus the console. 4 wiimotes / nunchucks can fit in very small spaces lol.

I love the Balance Board and Wii Fit, it's kind of odd that a video game is actually encouraging me to get back into shape, but it's happening.

I'll also second the recomendation for component cables if you have a HDTV, they'll make a significant difference in the picture quality.

Walmart and others sell a four Wiimote charging station that fits under the Wii. Not that much space at all.

If you get the Mario Kart game you might want to get some wheels. Or at least some nunchuks as well. If you don't have an SD card you might want one to back up your games or channels. I ended up getting a charging station just for two of the remotes and it works well and it is worth the money.

Also someone mentioned the Wii fit which we got as well. I really like it since the balance board can be used with many other games now. I also got EA active recently and found it to be a very hard workout at times and I haven't even used it a full two weeks.

does that base draw it's charger power from the wii power brick?, or a seperate wall-wart?

And, I'm going to assume modified/aftermarket controller battery covers are required?

i have the battery packs that have the batteries integrated into the battery covers. just try to find a set of those

i think the wii motion plus attachment coming out may be a future must have

my sister has wii and i have not played it much, but the mario kart to me is more fun played with the gamecube controllers.
