WOODSTOCK, Ont. - Hopes that Victoria Stafford would be found safe and returned to her family were dashed Wednesday with a man charged with the Grade 3 student's murder and a woman charged with being an accessory (http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/090520/national/missing_girl)

From this article (http://toronto.ctv.ca/servlet/an/local/CTVNews/20090520/stafford_arrest_090520/20090520?hub=Toronto):Police believe Victoria was abducted for "sexual purposes," Sgambati told CTV's Canada AM in an interview from Woodstock.

Investigators are now looking for the child's body near Guelph, Ont., with the help of the female suspect, she said.
...
Although the suspects know Victoria's parents, police don't believe they knew who their daughter was at the time she was kidnapped, Sgambati said.It makes one wonder what these people would have done had they known whose daughter she was...

Not an unexpected outcome.

If you dont find the kid within a day the chances there alive are almost nill ( minus those crazy exeptions). you always want to hope but odds are against you.

Im just glad they found the person(s) responsible so that justice can be served.

Sickening...
There is NO excuse for this heinous crime, and if found guilty, I hope they are killed in jail. Cases like this make me wish the death penalty was an option.

I think the reason there was hope for this story was because of the video of the kid with the lady. Made it seem like someone took the kid for a good reason. And over time, it seemed the good reason was to get the kid away from the weird mom. Never expected this outcome.

I'm worried that the female accomplice may be aiming for a karla Homolka type deal by cooperating with imvestigators...

I doubt the police would have a clue where the body is IF the woman did not agree to co-operate.

capital punishment is too good for these heinous acts of murder. I wish we could go back to the "good old days" and erect a whipping pole in city center where people who wished to do so could pick up a lash and beat the s==t out of the culprits.

You're right Hugh... I just don't want this woman ( if found guilty ) to be out of jail at such a young age, like karla did

Sadly, even if she serves 20 years, she'll be out before she is 40.

The search for Victoria Stafford’s body focused on a farmer’s field today, where the woman charged with abducting the Grade 3 student and being an accessory to her murder was taken by police who had investigated the site only one day earlier.

Terri-Lynne McClintic was seen sitting slumped down in the back of an unmarked police vehicle, hands behind her back, as it left the area near Fergus — about an hour east of where Victoria, known as Tori, went missing six weeks ago. (http://www.thespec.com/News/BreakingNews/article/569678)

Tori's mother lashes out (http://www.thestar.com/news/ontario/article/638620)

Quotes from link above.

"The three times I was interviewed by police, they said, 'We know it's you,'" McDonald told the London Free Press yesterday.

..

Daryn was questioned without a family member present and subjected to horrible suggestions, McDonald said. "He cried all night when he come home," she said.

...

The loss of this young girl is tragic but it does not shock me because unfortunately there are so many sick predators in this world.

What does shock me is the behaviour and actions of the police.

In the beginning, they ignored this case for a week (perhaps they could have saved the girl if they acted immediately) and then, only after an outcry by the media, they treated the parents and their 11 year old kid like trash.

I really believe the officers who said and did this things to the parents should be investigated. I understand having a healthy suspicion of the parents but this went well beyond that.

What about the mother's off story of getting picked up in a limo and meeting some stranger in a downtown hotel? And she was a former Oxycontin addict. Sounds like she's the kind of the person the cops would need to keep an eye on.

And she was a former Oxycontin addict

So was Rush Limbaugh. Does that make him a murderer? If she was a recovering alcoholic would that make you more likely to believe she killed her daughter?

Because she had a former addiction, is that why the police essentially waited a week to investigate?

Again, I understand having a healthy suspicion but cops grilling an 11 year old overnight and telling her she was guilty?

It's like telling a rape victim it was here fault because she wore tight fitting clothing.

The police didn't actually charge her. But with her sketchy background, they focused on finding out if she had more info. Telling her "you did it" is just part of the mind games of interrogation.

Also, did anyone actually accuse her of killing the girl? No one knew Tori was dead until a couple of days ago.

Ontario police find ‘suspicious' remains (http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/ontario-police-find-suspicious-remains/article1224385/)

Human remains have been found in a rural area near Mount Forest, Ont., but police can't yet say if they are those of Tori Stafford.

Ontario provincial police Sgt. David Rektor says investigators found the remains Sunday about 40 kilometres northwest of Guelph, Ont. Sgt. Rektor says the remains were in a “relatively new area of the search” for the body of the eight-year-old girl, who went missing in Woodstock, Ont., on April 8. He says police “don't want to speculate” that the remains are Victoria and are classifying the remains as “suspicious” for now.

What a shame. At least the family will have closer but won't give them back their kid.

Now the trial will begin to see what these 2 idiots will get for their killing of innocent child.
