: TVOntario & TFO DTV Transition Status (closed)
OTANUT 2011-08-19, 08:49 PM Just went black on 32-1 in Windsor and tuner was displaying the signal as 1080i, but now its back on at 480i.
I've had 32-1 on for an hour and it has not cut out on me....and it is STILL at 480i!!!
PanaMark 2011-08-19, 08:54 PM the dark side is strong there in Windsor. It has a grip one the last TVO 480i transitions. I'm visiting Leamington tomorrow perhaps I can bring some 1080i with me......
OTANUT 2011-08-19, 09:04 PM Bring it ON, panaMark!!!! Please....lol
RobWindsor 2011-08-19, 09:09 PM Hmm, I suspected it was possibly a problem on my end. Glad you could confirm it. Darn though, I thought they were "getting ready".
DavidT 2011-08-19, 10:37 PM Somewhat partially related... Does anyone have any ideas on how to get Media Centre to pull in guide data for TVO?
Microsoft and/or their data provider have not added TVO to their lineup yet. Given their track record, they probably won't for a few weeks or months.
wilspin 2011-08-19, 11:54 PM I just wait and it will show up later.
PrinceLH 2011-08-20, 01:17 AM Still 480i, here in Belleville, on RF26.
OTANUT 2011-08-20, 05:50 AM Still 480i in Windsor. They must have some additional problems other than the lightning strike...:(
OTANUT 2011-08-20, 08:05 AM Tropo is allowing me to pull in TVO 33 out of Chatham and they are in 480i too still. I thought someone reported they were in HD last night???
TVO 18.1 from London is 1080i, as others have posted.... great picture!
dshnrob 2011-08-20, 09:35 AM I am located in Oakland County (Orion Twp) and despite having a solid lock on channel 32, my Channel Master CM-7000Pal is getting an audio-only signal. Are others having problems with an audio only signal?
Also, just curious if the channel data (the previously reported Digicipher2 signal) is having with the former Dish Network DVR firmware?
Many thanks,
-RT
OTANUT 2011-08-20, 10:09 AM I am in Oakland County too (Groveland Twp) and I get a lock on TVO 32 with audio and video, albeit it's still in 480i and not HD.
micah 2011-08-20, 10:26 AM London has also fallen back to 480i.... strange. Just a bump in the road I'm sure.
Scarborough 2011-08-20, 10:43 AM TVO signal levels are showing very low today. Have they reduced their signal?
The techs at TVO (channel 18.1 out of London,ON) are probably just working out the glitches...
I believe that was in part the reason for the "temporary digital channel assignment" during the digital transition = testing!
But it appears the conventional broadcasters in Canada decided to flashcut to digital instead. (remember they had 4 years to convert to digital)
We should probably expect other broadcasters to experience the same issues, until the bugs are worked out. ;)
ScaryBob 2011-08-20, 11:40 AM London has also fallen back to 480i.... strange. Just a bump in the road I'm sure.
Some US networks took years to correct such issues. NBC from Boston was especially bad and often experienced loss of their HD feed. I lost count of the number of times their network programming was switched back to 480i.
FDSmyth 2011-08-20, 12:58 PM I am located in Oakland County (Orion Twp) and despite having a solid lock on channel 32, my Channel Master CM-7000Pal is getting an audio-only signal. Are others having problems with an audio only signal?
I am also having the audio only problem with Channel 32.1 TVO on both of my DTVPals. Both my Sony and Toshiba TVs are showing both audio and video properly.Signal strength is 98-100 on everything.
On a side note picture is 480i and no guide info is available.
mkenney 2011-08-20, 03:40 PM I Windsor no real issues 85 intensity and 100 quality on Zinwell convertor, as well as all ATSC tuner tv s
Phil81 2011-08-20, 03:47 PM tropo is allowing me to pull in TVO 33 out of Chatham and they are in 480i too still. I thought someone reported they were in HD last night???Indeed they WERE 1080i wide screen at around 7:30-8 pm last night. Heh just checked 33-1 and it seems (at least on the converter box) all they seem to be sending is a totally black screen.
jgconnor 2011-08-20, 04:42 PM TVO signal levels are showing very low today. Have they reduced their signal?
I just did an experiment.
I disconnected my Toronto facing antenna to see what I would get with my Buffalo facing only.
As expected Buffalo was fine. CHCH was fine. CBC was fine (good news) but TVO was dropping out.
So I hope this means that they are operating at low power until CBC is up to full power, or I'm not going to be able to decommission my Toronto antenna.
Still, early days.
