: TVOntario & TFO DTV Transition Status (closed)
jgconnor 2011-08-19, 01:26 PM And while all this site streamlining is going on at the CN Tower, many stations have yet to decommission their analogue operations. The whole process is probably more intricate than we think.
I can't wait to read your reception reports here after all the rework is done, and the troposphere is less active. It should be impressive.
I think this is bang on. I'm not planning any tweaking or tuning of anything until after the 31st. There's just too much that's got to change yet.
The fact that TVO and CHCH went 'early' is just a bonus right now.
ScaryBob 2011-08-19, 02:05 PM It's definitely too early to do a lot of tweaking at the receiving end. I imagine the transmitter tweaking process will go well into September. In the case of channels like CHCH, it could take months to obtain permission for and install equipment for upgraded ARPs or ERPs.
Nester5000 2011-08-19, 02:54 PM I'm getting info but I think it's the TVGOS, other than that, neither TVO nor Global has PSIP. As a side note, I'm only picking up TVO on my Sony TV, the Samsung HD box doesn't get it.
PanaMark 2011-08-19, 03:12 PM London 18-1 TVO RF18 transmitter is now broadcasting HD 1080i. I can confirm that my Panasonic displays 18-1 TVO and displays what is on, while my Samsung dislpay 18-1 (no TVO) and no programming.
robman50 2011-08-19, 03:27 PM Yesterday I noticed they stopped broadcasting on CH. 19 and it was all fuzz and now I see they are now on CH. 18. Why did they go to CH 18 on analog? I have also noticed that they are broadcasting in 1080i HD on 19-1.

Channel 18 analog is the TVO repeater from Peterborough. Now that channel 19 analog from Toronto is gone, channel 18 comes in better for us in the west side of the GTA.
OTANUT 2011-08-19, 03:31 PM Windsor TVO 32 is still 480i.....come on!!!
PanaMark 2011-08-19, 03:44 PM patience young Jedi, patience.....1080i will come.
OTANUT 2011-08-19, 03:48 PM LOL Panamark!!! The anticipation is the best part anyways!!! Thanks for the chuckle! :D
cm023 2011-08-19, 03:49 PM I can also confirm 1080i on 18-1 in London. Full Guide and no PISP issues. No need to swing around to watch 28-1 from Paris anymore.
PanaMark 2011-08-19, 03:59 PM cm, could you mention what brand of tv, so we can share PSIP issues.
UniformOscar 2011-08-19, 04:03 PM Will all the TVO transmitters that changed to DTV all be 1080i eventually? The Belleville (26.1) transmitter is still 480i.
alebowgm 2011-08-19, 04:17 PM As TVO said earlier in this thread, they plan to, but the equipment used for 1080i on all the other transmitters already got damaged, so its 480i for now until they get it fixed.
cm023 2011-08-19, 04:34 PM cm, could you mention what brand of tv, so we can share PSIP issues.
Samsung LN-S3241D.
When it was in 480i, there was some lagging and it froze up the TV the odd time.
Now in 1080i I have no issues with program description, clock and "TVO" label. Nicely done TVO.
micah 2011-08-19, 05:40 PM I think its fixed. London was in the group that could not receive 1080 because of said dammage. However, ondon is now in 1080i, so I'm sure the rest of SW Ontario will follow.
OTANUT 2011-08-19, 05:47 PM 5:45pm and still SD 480i in Windsor.....
Phil81 2011-08-19, 07:57 PM Chatham's 33-1 signal now in 1080i with accurate time info but still no prog info/ID.
Don't know what is taking Windsor so long. Pretty much the last hold out now.
OTANUT 2011-08-19, 08:00 PM Windsor TVO is teasing us down here!!!
someguy23475 2011-08-19, 08:03 PM Windsor was the last to switch off analog so it doesn't surprise me.
I can't get the Chatham signal at all. Tropo has showed a signal at times but not enough to lock.
I take it Chatham is sticking with 33-1 instead of using the old analog 59 position.
RobWindsor 2011-08-19, 08:46 PM Just went black on 32-1 in Windsor and tuner was displaying the signal as 1080i, but now its back on at 480i.
