Is there anyway around the copy right policies on the digital providers. I was away yesterday and wanted to record the final round of the masters, no go, it stopped two minutes in due to copy right violations...luckily I was also recording it upstairs on my analog cable tv, that worked.
I can understand movies, maybe specials, but this is regular TV, that at least I think I pay for! I think I should have the right to record it and watch it later not be forced into buying a $5-600 PVR...

You didn't state:

1. Your location and service provider.
2. Whether you wanted to record in HD or SD
3. What you were using to record - make/model of VCR or DVD recorder or other...
4. What connections you were using to the recording device.
5. You stated that you recorded it OK on an analogue cable TV. I assume you meant on some sort of recorder hooked up to analogue cable.

The more details that you can provide, the better we're able to assist you.

See the following for proper connections of a VCR/DVD recorder. If directly connected (using the internal analogue tuner) and not through a STB, there should be no issues:
