I'm obviously not the MTV demographic because I own only one of those 15 and only because of my wife. Two from Oasis - please!

The following list is more like it:

Seems like a list better suited to the last 15 years then "forever". No Beatles, Rolling Stones or the Who albums on the list doesn't feel right to me unless these are on the bottom 5 of the list.

57..I hear ya, but it looks like it's an age thing when you look at both tables. The one you posted, I have most of those too.

Oasis...although they never cracked NA, they were huge everywhere else and made $h1tloads of money.

On the movie side of things though, citizen kane always seems to be #1 on all charts.

What a joke of a list... as said before no Beetles, Stones, Who, Clash, Bowie, ... Where is "Dark Side of the Moon" and Lou Reed's "Transformer"? A great list for the past 20-25 years or so, but all time "ever" not even close.

Beetles suck. Beatles rock.

Thriller, Nevermind and The Joshua Tree should be there, the rest probably shouldn't. I like Kanye West and he shouldn't be. And there is no way Eminem should be, as well as all the rest of the new CDs on that list. Rolling Stone did a list a few years ago, that was better than either of the two posted on here. It was the top 500 of all time.

Yeah, I saw Rolling Stone's top 500 of all time, and even that was a bit America-biased. I do think Oasis should be in there, as they had a huuuge impact on the music scene when those first two albums of theirs came out. Not here in North America, of course, but like lima said, everywhere else. I remember a website being run out of England that encouraged people to write in and vote for their favourite albums. The people voting were mostly British, and Oasis won the top spot!

But if you're gonna talk about "greatest albums", then I think you should have a more global outlook.

Personally, I own 1 and 4 though 8. And they are indeed great albums. Although I can listen to only so much of Nirvana in one sitting.

cheers,

They lost me at #2. I'm probably in the demographic they're aiming for, and I only agree with two of the choices at most. Don't pay any attention to this list though...MTV hasn't been musically relevant for at least a decade...

All these "Ever" top lists seem to be very biased towards current music. Even when I watched for the first time a "Top 200 Music Videos Ever" on MTV back in 1993, and being a huge Nirvana fan myself, I still felt there was something fishy with the fact that "Smells Like a Teen Spirit" turned out to be No.1.
As for this chart, all I can say is, "Craig who?".
BTW, I'm also surprised that MTV is still talking about music. :)

Yeah, who is Craig David?
Ah....Craig was able to crack the US market and ended up on a lot of late night shows and radio out there.

Personally I like Craig David (and Artful Dodger as well) but I wouldn't place him on the list, let alone at number 2.

Median age of MTV viewer is 21 Target group age 12 to 34. I agree with others that the "all time" reference would make more sense if it were changed to the last 15 years.

Makes sense because I'm 37 and you'll never catch me sitting down to listen to The Beatles, Stones, or Zeppelin. Poison, Motley Crue, and Kurtis Blow are more along the lines of what I would listen to when I want to be nostalgic.

It's all relative I guess. Sure this may be biased towards newer albums, but lists like the Rolling Stone top 500 seems to be biased to older music (see how few recent albums cracked the top 100, for example)...
