Today my son came home from guitar lesson discussing a program his instructor and he were looking at. He said it was very cool and I am interested in learning more about it.

Unfortunately he did not get the name and googling hasn't helped me but he thought it sounded like tox or tux?

Anyone know this program? Is it expensive? Can it work on a Mac Mini?

I am considering another Apple TV but was thinking about a Mac Mini instead if there were additional applications such as this that we might use at our home.

Thanks in advance

Not sure if either of these would help, as I would think they'd be some of the first things you would have come across from a google search. But there is a painting/drawing program called Tux Paint, or if it was a guitar program I would have to guess the new (09) version of Garage Band which has guitar lessons built into it.

Yeah, I was just about to suggest Garageband from iLife 09. It's pretty amazing.

It was definitely a music program. It wasn't Garage Band because my son has seen Garage Band and he told me that it definitely wasn't Garage Band.

The program you're looking for may be TuxGuitar:

Cyclism, I do believe that is it!

Thank-you very much.

Also pro-tools, but I think that is more of a recording program and may be expensive as it is what recording studios seem to use.

Garageband changed drastically with Ilife09 released in the beginning of Jan.

Yes - it even offers guitar lessons now in Garage band 09 if you have the right computer.
