Superstar comedian/actor Will Ferrell stars in his first HBO special, a live, 90-minute performance of his limited-run Broadway show, You're Welcome America. A Final Night with George W Bush. In the special, Ferrell will inhabit one of his favorite political characters from Saturday Night Live, President George W. Bush, assuming the guises of several "Ws" through the years, including the "cowboy" Bush, the "flight suit" Bush, and the (plain old) "suit" Bush. Along the way, Ferrell-as-Bush provides insights into the Bush's childhood, his time at Yale, his stint as a major-league baseball co-owner, his emergence as a political figure, and his cherished if checkered tenure in and (frequently) out of the White House. Will Ferrell: You're Welcome America. A Final Night with George W Bush is Ferrell's first stage show, previewing on Broadway on Barack Obama's inauguration day and officially opening in early February 2009. The 90-minute event features special guest performances including a breakdancing Secret Service agent and a satirical portrait of Condoleezza Rice. The stage show is directed by Ferrell's longtime collaborator Adam McKay, and the March 14 show will be directed for television by Marty Callner.

Following the premiere, HBO Canada will air the first four episodes of the Will Ferrell-produced half-hour comedy series Eastbound and Down, starring Danny McBride. Will Ferrell: You're Welcome America. A Final Night with George W Bush will also be offered in High Definition on HBO Canada HD and will be available on Movie Central On Demand and The Movie Network OnDemand following its network premiere.

Not a fan of Ferrell but did enjoy the program. He did an excellant job and the highlight of the show was the segment dealing with GWB and Candi Rice. As for the follow-up show Eastbound and Down.....not my cup of tea. Hopefully what now passes as humour will pass quickly!

I thought Eastbound and Down was hilarious.

I lasted 20 minutes then changed the channel.
