I need to reinstall Nero 9 because the patent didn't activate the first time, but I can't seem to unistall it. When I go into Add And Remove Programs, a window pops up "Ending Installation" when I click on Remove and then nothing happens after I click OK.

Goto the Nero website. Under the support, they have a special uninstall tool that wipes everything from Nero 9 off your system. (I know because I had to use it!)

I'm trying to reinstall Nero 9, but while it seems to install properly, I can't find it on my PC. I think I found the culprit--when I did a ctrl+alt+del to check if anything was wrong, sure enough, the task manager box showed Nero as "Not Responding." Anyone have an idea on how to fix it?

well if it says not responding in task manger then all you can do is click on "end task" to close the program and open the program again. or wait for the program to respond again

Sounds like you didn't use the uninstall tool

I did use the "Cleaner" to uninstall, but I forgot to mention that was still running according the Windows Task Manager. Do you think it was removing Nero as I was reinstalling it? Even though the install was supposedly successful, I can't find it at all on my PC. No desktop icon and it's not in my "All Programs" list.

I would reboot, install again, reboot again and uninstall. An early release of Nero 9 had some issues if it was not uninstalled before installing a newer version. Not sure if that applies here. There is also a Nero General CleanTool (http://www.nero.com/enu/tools-utilities.html) that might help.

I used the Nero Cleantool, but I'll try what you said.

Try using the removal tool in Safemode.....F8 when you start the PC....once its removed, reboot to regular Windows and try the install again...

Do you use Nero for more than just CD/DVD burning?

As noted by Scarybob, tHe critical thing is after using the Nero tool, you have to reboot

Nothing seems to be working. I used the Cleantool in safe mode, rebooted and reinstalled, but when I click "Exit" after the install, it freezes and still isn't on my pc, except the manuals.

Should I just go into my program files and delete all Nero files that way?

Great. Now the CleanTool itself seems buggered up. I removed and redownload it and it still froze on me. looks like my computer needs to go into the shop.

No, that will do little. Its the registry entries and buried .dll's that are problematic.

I don't know what you have done. My advice is to reboot your computer. Run the cleanup tool then reboot your computer.

Run your computer for a day or two and ensure that its running correctly before trying to install. I sense the problem is more than Nero.

Personaly, if I was in that situation, I would attempt to reinstall Nero over top of the old one, to bring it back into a state where I can uninstall it. Then uninstall. And never use it again...ok maybe that last part is going too far. I use CDburnerPRO. It's free software and works great.
