As discussed before in this forum, I decided to get my seats from HTAuthority. Good price for user configurable HT seating.

Pete, that's absolutely terrific seeing kids enjoying it too.

I'd previously checked your build log, great job.

Looks good Pete. Can you keep us updated (ie any problems etc) as I'm thinking about getting the same seats in a couple of months

Haha.

Actually, my wife falls asleep alot during movies... She lasted 45minutes into 'The Great Debaters' (Denzel Washington),.... but partially because she's tired from being mom to our 2 kids, and the fact that we don't start something until 930pm.....

Yesterday afternoon, I had a nice snoring nap in the chair, while watching 'Fresh Water' from the Planet Earth DVD series (borrowed from co-worker), I woke up, and 'Dog Whisperer' was on the screen (my wife had said they had finished the disc, and saw that DW was on Nat. Geographic HD and switched over to the satellite (thx to the new Harmony remote) .....)

I usually have the seat in the full reclined position, and either watch stuff with my hands behind my head (I sleep with my hands above my head in bed), or I stick a small throw cushion behind my head to see the screen better.

BTW, I've got Planet Earth (BD) added to my ziplist... the DVD image quality is lacking now that I've seen some BD movies.... argh.....

These seats look very sweet ! Pricing seems to be decent too (I only checked the Budget seats).

What model did you get ? Is this a US or Canadian company ? (in the About Us, they list both a US and a Canadian address)

The model is Studio by Coaster Furniture company.

I believe he is cdn, but has a US mailing address as well to simplify banking for his American customers.

I bought 4 'barely used' Aura Bass Shaker Pro's from Ebay, and hooked them up to an old JVC receiver (40-50W per side in stereo). I split the subwoofer signal from my main AVR

I mounted one to each seat, using some scrap wood to span the steel frame members at the base of the chair.

I very much like the effect that the Shaker's create. I had heard that they require very little power, and had some frustrations when 1st mounting them, because I couldn't feel them at 1st, with my JVC receiver turned to 3 or 4 outta 10.

Turns out that the Auto MMCAC on my pioneer receiver had turned down the sub output to -6.5db, and I don't think my Shaker receiver could attenuate the signal enough. I ended up boosting the subout signal to +4dB, and turning down the gain on my powered sub to compensate. I can know feel the shakers nicely during the explosions in Pearl Harbor and the beginning of SW: Revenge of the Sith, with the Shaker JVC rec'r set to about 4-5/10 on the volume.

I'll post pics of how they are mounted later (after I take them). No modifications (drilliing/cutting etc) needed to the Coaster Studios to make the Shakers fit.

I also need to find a way to either hide or cover the 2' of speaker wire that is showing between the couch and the HT room wall, so that it doesn't become a hazzard for tripping etc. Currently, there is a storage ottoman sitting ontop of the wires.

I don't recall if you have capet for flooring? If so, I don't recall the name but there is special canvass cloth with velcro sides that is especially made to cover wiring and I believe it is available in various colors.

Cheers!

I haven't got anything yet.....

My only concern about the wire covers is that we have a 1yr old dog, and he might find it tasty.

I found that the local stereo shop has 'under the carpet' speaker wire and sells it by the foot.... I might try that , as I only need about 3 ft x 2 max to get from the wall to under the couch.....
