Can someone give me the straight goods. I recently bought a Rogers HD box when it was on sale. I just got off the phone and asked what my price would be to switch to basic digital cable from analog. She quoted me the price of 40.09 with taxes. I then asked if I would receive any HD cables and she said I might get 5 or 6 but I'd have to upgrade to the HD package to get more. Is she giving me the straight goods?

Cables, or channels? They will give you component cables. If you prefer to use HDMI, you'll have to buy it yourself.

Most of the HD channels are in one or more of the various packages of channels available for extra cost. One of the other threads here will tell you which ones you will get for free, but essentially you will get the HD versions of the SD channels you normally get with basic cable.
The HD specialty pack is the first add-on to look at and I am not sure you can get that with basic digital. It has been discussed recently in other threads though, so look around the forum a bit.

I would make sure to make it very clear to the CSR that you purchased an HD cable box and you would like to have it activated. If you don't do this, then they'll charge you a rental fee on another cable box.
Not if he's upgrading to Digital from Analogue. The work order defaults to only 1 digital box, and the drop menu for equipment will allow a purchased terminal instead of a rental. Unless an agent actually adds on another outlet, adds the terminal, and adds the digital services fee all by accident, you'll only be charged one box.. and if the latter is the case, it wouldn't bill the account until the imaginary box is picked up, which would be never.
Also, for any purchased box being placed on an acount for the first time, please call 8772367208 for Cable Retail Fulfillment (Option 2 "To activate a Rogers product or service" after the language prompt). If you call regular Customer Care, you'll be transferred.
