is there an easy way to eliminate lens flare on the 57hx83? on movies with dark scenes and a bright light or with white credits over black i get a noticeable white flare on the screen. is it just a simple matter of lining the interior of the cabinet? is it possible to completely eliminate it or just slightly reduce the effect? i've set my video levels with avia so it's not just a matter of being in torch mode with contrast way too high.

Some amount of this will always be present. You can line the cabinet with a material like Duvetyne, which has virtually no visible benefit, you can follow a procedure I've seen on a website somewhere that shows you how to disassemble each lens and mask the edges of each lens element with black, etc etc etc. All these might help, but it'll always be there to some extent. Just the nature of the beast, really.

Of course, without seeing your screen, it's impossible to say if yours is 'normal' or not though.
