So I called Telus a couple weeks ago and talked to one of the reps. She told me that I could subscribe to Telus TV, meaning I would also have to get Telus internet as well). However, I asked her if it was possible to drop Telus internet at a later date without giving up Telus TV and she said that it WAS possible and that I would only be paying for the Telus TV price (something about keeping the modem there to run telustv?). Does anybody have any confirmation on this information? Although I am currently subscribed to Shaw, I'm thinking of switching over to Telus (no contract) for a couple months and then dropping their internet and going back with Shaw. Doing this would still be cheaper than paying for Shaw cable. So yeah, anyone that can offer any input?

I don't think that's possible. You need to have the internet from them. After all, it is IPTV.

My experience, it's definitely cheaper and less bother to get all your services with one provider than two or more. We got TELUS HDTV, Internet and landline in a "bundle" price that's cheaper than TELUS Internet/land line and regular Shaw TV (not even digital or HD), and only one bill to pay.

Hmm what do I need for TTV? Telus internet only? Or do I need their phone service as well?

Bunble price will be lost. I save $10/month just on the TV package like this, and if the internet service is too slow at 300k/s Im not sure Shaw is that much faster consistently. I had Shaw and never saw the 10mbit/s other than late at night.

You only need TELUS internet for the TTV. You don't have to get the landline, but it will be cheaper if you include it in your bundle.

I got a decent deal which I am sure is widely available. The customer service rep intially said I could get ttv without either internet or phone via telus. She went through all my questions pretty well then came back and said I need either internet or phone service via telus lol. I knew my signing up was too good to be true.

So I have to decide whether slower internet speeds with Telus is enough to make the switch. I already switched to Primus a month ago and I am not switching the phone service.

Points to ponder before my install date of Jan29....hmmmmms and haws.

I realize it might be cheaper to bundle but I'm not sold on the quality of Telus internet itself. Besides the bundle price they show on their website is $10 cheaper for tv but their phone prices are also a lot more expensive than Shaw. When I asked the rep, she said that if I got their phone service pricematched, they could no longer give me the bundle price for tv..go figure. Hence if I had a choice, I'd stick with Shaw phone and internet and go with tv. This is the reason why I asked whether it's possible to drop the internet after originally subscribing for it along with ttv. The rep told me that they could leave the modem box (something along those lines) and just keep the tv service running but I would not be charged for internet...the rep probably didn't know what she was talking about but yeah I guess noone knows then.
