When does it start in Canada? Once the 2004 models come will the 2003's get marked down quite a bit? I'm looking at getting a sony 32 or 36 inch and I'm wondering if the prices will be better once the 04's are released.

HDTVs are often released as "models", not always as a "model year grouping". So one model may be due for a new release while another may not be. I'm not familiar with the specific model you mention, but I thought I'd provide this background information.

Sony (and most manufacturers) seems to announce in late spring / early summer and the models come out in the August / September timeframe.

Sorry, I guess Hitachi may be a bit different, first came the "F" - many months ago, then the "S", then the "T", then the "X" (some of these may be US only).

Sony also did the LCDs at various times, with even the different sizes 42, 50, 60, 70, (then XBR - ATSC tuner models) coming out at various times....

I guess it's similar to what happened with cars. They used to be predictably announced in the summer, with new models in the fall. Now it's a year-'round thing and they introduce a 2005 model in January 2004.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I'll just have to wait and watch the stores....or buy it now. Hoping a 480i will tide me over until HDTV's become a bit cheaper.
