Think it may be a weather problem as skies are getting grey in this area now.

Back to my original problem with 6131. How would Bell removing my receiver from my account then re applying it back on, clear up the error 005 problem?

tobor26: Sounds like you've already gone through all the usual steps, so I imagine this is probably one of their last troubleshooting steps. I'm suspecting you may have a defective receiver. Is it still under warranty?

Thanks for the replies gentleman...I re-pointed the dish which has fixed the issue for now..Transponder 16 is back...nothing on 5 and 11 but from what I've read thats fine.

There are two issues that most likely are effecting my issue...

1. Now that the trees along my property bank have blossomed the foilage most likely is hindering the sat somewhat (my dish is on my deck pointing into the tops of these trees) I'll have to live with that

2. I believe that coax cable going to the lnb for 91 is due to be replaced. It is getting brittle and extremely stiff... I repointed my dish using a spare tv and a newer 10 ft piece of spare coax directly from dish to the receiver...SAT 91 transponder 1 was about 66% to 68%...when connected back to the original piece going into the house the signal inside on the receiver is about 59 to 60%

I checked the grounding block and it appears as new as the day I bought it..so I'm figuring the original coax line is probably due

Thanks Tim. No, receiver is out of it's warranty time. I will call them again and find out what else to try, other than replacement.

@shaun, 66-68% is way too low for sat 91, trans 1. Obviously it will differ slightly depending on your location, but 80% is usually the bare minimum that I see, with the average probably being around 85%.

Hello, I have had my 6131 for about a week now thru the receiver
Replacement program. Right from the start, I would be watching tv
And the channel would go black for just a second and then come back,
It would do this maybe 3 or 4 times in about 30 seconds and then stop
And maybe do it again half hour later, it's like the receiver turns off and
Back on but the power light doesn't go off on the receiver. I didn't notice
It all week but receiver started doing it again tonight. I have tried a reset
But that didn't work. I thought mabe it's the receiver but my dad is having
The same problem and he just got his 6131 thru the replacement program
Too. I'm in Hamilton and he's in fonthill, any suggestions would be appreciated ,
Thx

Nothing springs to mind immediately but you can always try a "Check Switch". MENU, 6, 1, 1.

Hello,

I was having the same problem for awhile. I noticed that it was my HDMI cable. I replaced that and the issue went away. How I came to that determination was that whenever the picture would go blank I would rewind the program (using HD for PVR) and I would be able to see what I missed the first time. Hopefully this helps your issue.

Hi all - I have 2 6131's - the one in my living room can no longer PVR anything as it constantly say "unable to aquire program guide" - it trys to to get it but cannot - ive cut the power more than few times with hopes that it my some how reboot and reload every thing but just wont do it. I cannot see more than 2 hours ahead on the program guide. The receiver upstairs works fine.
Any one have any experience with this?

Could be having a problem with the TP that the Guide data is on. Try swapping receivers, that will at least prove if it is the receiver or cable/connector/switch issue.

OMG - I'm retarded .... I actually have 3 receivers - one standard def in the basement for the tennant - because i never cared to watch the standard def but my wife has a specialty channel on it one cable whent straight to the basement for tennant and his standard def box and i used a splitter for the two 6131's when it came to the standard def- it was all good cause both HD receiver were able to lock in on that one channel - some channels were missing but who cared it worked for like 2 years!!- some mnths ago we started loosing that channel so i removed the splitter and sent a dedicated standard def signal to the box upstairs for my wife to whatch her channel. I guess the 6131 in the living room needed that signal from nimiq 91 to get the program guide. As of yesterday my tennant moved out so i simply plugged his standard def cable back into the SW1 or 2 switch and both receivers upstairs are working fine now.

I really need to get that big switch attached to all the bell satellites that will allow up to six receivers to be used. Do you know what its called by any chance. I'm simply using all my old equpment from when I used to pirate dishnet/bell so thats why its some what of a crude setup.
But thanks PINZA your advice opened up my eyes.

Glad to have helped.

The technology has moved on somewhat, I would suggest a DPP Twin LNBF, that will feed both your HD machines, no other switch's will be required. Then when you want to add more, just get a DPP44 switch. The single cable from these LNBF's can also feed a Dual Tuner Receiver with the use of a DPP Seperator.

If anyone can help me with this question I'd be very grateful.

I was sent a new 6131 receiver by Bell to replace my 6100 which functioned normally for years. The 6100 was pointed at Nimiq 82. Installed the 6131 and did not move the dish itself.

The problem is that it won't download the guide. I can watch all the channels including HD but guide only shows whats currently on and whats on next, the rest says no info. When I try to go to the no info it asks to download the guise, select OK and the guide download screen flashes, disappears and nothing changes. I also get intermittent messages about signal loss.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance if anyone knows about this.

Try pressing the power button on the receiver - not the remote - for about 5 or 10 seconds. The full guide should download in about 10 minutes.

If it's only pointed at 82, it won't download the guide. If you are also receiving 91, than ignore my answer.

Maybe try doing a 'check switch', press menu 6-1-1 and see if reception is verified for 91. If not run the 'test'.

Just a quick question. I just got the new 6131 receiver and all is good.

My old 6100 had a UHF connection that connected to a 12ft coax cable and the small antenna for the remote control. I have removed the UHF unit from the 6100 hoping I could reuse it. This was handy as I had the receiver in another room with all the other electronics.

Changing channels is now ackward and I do not want to relocated the 6131 as this requires alot of drywall work.

Question - Does anyone know if the new 6131 has a connection on the circuit board that will allow me to connect that UHF unit ?

Ask Bell for a UHF remote controll unit. It should have come with your replacement. It is a small UHF receiver - from your remote - and it has a small piece that sits in front of your receiver.
When you use the new remote (included) it transmits to the little receiver box which sends out a infra red signal to your receiver.
