According to this link

you can now add up to a 2TB drive on a 6131 (works on a 6141 I tried it) :D

Hi,
Got a bit of a weird issue with my 6131 - it stopped downloading EPG data. All I get is current and upcoming show. If I move the arrow to right in the guide display, it says it's outdated and asks to download, but even if I choose 'yes' it doesn't actually download the epg data... anyone know how to fix it? It's been working fine until couple of days ago.
avgjoe, Did you find a solution to this yet ?

Thanks for the link when I upgrade my 6100 to the replacement 6131 I will purchase a 2 TB external to take advantage of the increased capacity.

Hi,

No, I haven't found the solution as of yet, but from what I see in your setup I believe I see a common theme: both of us (and another person I know) only have 82 sat signal (I don't care for 91 since there's no HD channels there). I think this sure looks like they simply stopped sending EPG data to the 82 sat and the only way out of this may be to connect both satellites. The ridiculous thing in the whole situation is the crappy firmware on the receiver will not let you PVR anything without the guide being present... you can't even just set the "VCR style" timer for starting at hour a, ending hour b. Oh well, on the other hand, it's still warm outside :)

Has anyone moved EHD around from one 6131 to another with out any issues?
They are all on the same account, same model, just want to make sure before I upgrade to a larger drive and transfer the smaller EHD to a 6131 unit that has none.

With your working Remote, press MENU, 6, 1, 3, System Info.

Record the number alongside Remote Address.

On the New Remote;
Press and hold SAT button, until all lights flash, let go.
Enter the number you got from Sys Info (a 1 through 9 must be preceeded with a 0)
Press #
SAT should flash 3 times if your code is valid.

Your new Remote should now work.
Bought a Dish Net remote off Kijiji for my 6131 (old remote broken...dropped in sink)
Remote address on receiver is 1.

Followed:
"On the New Remote;
Press and hold SAT button, until all lights flash, let go.
Enter the number you got from Sys Info (a 1 through 9 must be preceeded with a 0)
Press #
SAT should flash 3 times if your code is valid.

Your new Remote should now work."

Entered it into the new Dish Remote as 01 and it still doesn't work.

The remotes are almost identical. Except one is Bell, one is Dish.

Am I missing something...hate to be the guy who asks the same question, but I've read these forums since 5pm and still haven't found an answer.

The Dish remote came with the Blue UHF tab facing up...I've flipped it to Green.
All the best.

I had connected external hard drive to my old rental 6131 reciver. it works fine since last 1 year. Two days before I bought new 6131 reciver. I connect the same hard disk to 6131 receiver. I can see list of events recorded with my old rental receiver. But I can not see those events. Once I click to events to see, TV becomes blank and on top it says 0 min remaining ( shown time remaining for event). I am able to record new events with new reciver and replay it. How can I see my old events?

alkesh - I don't recall putting a zero in front of the remote number. I just used "1" I think. Maybe try that.

I just plugged in an external harddrive into my Bell 6131 HD Receiver and was wondering if there was any way to watch other channels while recording?

I have seen somewhere that an RF Splitter might do the trick does anyone have any feedback on this or if it is actually possibly?

Thanks a lot.

No, you can only watch what is recording or something already recorded. There is only one tuner in the receiver. You need a dual tuner receiver to do what you want.

Hey Everyone,

I have 2 6131's that are currently connected to a t.v each. My idea is that I want to be able to keep those connected to their respective t.v's via HDMI but I also want to send those signals to other tv's in my home (I have this already pre-wired in my basement.) My question is, can I do this? I'm not sure how to go about in doing this as the 6131's do not have two co-ax feeds like some of the other receivers. Thanks!

cptcarter, if you don't want HD on the other TVs just get an RF Modulator which will convert the composite signal from 6131 to coax and then picked up on TV channel 3 or 4.
Also if you want to control the 6131 from basement you'll need a uhf kit.

Hi. Just got my new 631 upgrade reciever. I have a 1080 tv. When I use the component out i get a smaller video display. I have tried checking all settings on both tv and 6131 but can not get it to go full screen. Just to make sure it wasnt my tv i rehooked up my 6100 reciever with rca cables and I had my full screen. With my 6131 i get full screen with RCA but can not get it to go with component. Will i only get full if i use HDMI?

thx

Your post has been moved to this existing thread:

What do you mean by small screen? 4:3 or bars all around? Press the * button repeatedly on the 6131 remote to cycle through the various stretch modes. Make sure that your TV is also on the appropriate stretch mode - usually full or 16:9. Also check the setup of the output format for the 6131 to make sure it's 720P or 1080i. What's the make/model of your TV?

With my 6131 i get full screen with RCAWhat does this mean - single composite or the same cables as component video? Check out the following FAQs:

Why dont you just go out and buy an HDMI cable for 20 bucks at you local computer store and watch T.V as it was meant to be watched instead of screwing around with those other useles cables that are obsolete.
