: Bell TV 6131 Discussion thread
Bman72s 2011-09-25, 09:18 AM Just got two 6131 receivers installed yesterday. Everything is fine but when I turn the TV on, even if receiver isn't on I get Bell pay for view ads. They go away when I start using the receiver. Is there a way to block these. I looked in preferences but couldn't find anything.
Pinza 2011-09-25, 10:27 AM Is it related to this thread;

Bman72s 2011-09-25, 11:16 AM Unfortunately it doesn't appear to be related to the above noted thread. What happens is I get Bell pay for view listings even if I haven't turned on receiver when I turn on the TV. I also get a message saying hit select to watch TV. If I do that the receiver turns on and away I go. This isn't a deal breaker but it is annoying.
Maritimer 2011-09-25, 12:07 PM [B]It's just a standby mode feature.. all 6131 receivers are like that.
Pinza 2011-09-25, 01:23 PM That must be very new, as I had a 6131 using it as a test receiver and got used to seeing the normal Bell "Screen Saver".
doomy 2011-09-26, 10:50 AM It seems to depend on what output you are using. As for me, I had the advertising screen saver using composite or component, but no screen saver using coax. Can't remember for HDMI as I had audio syncing issues with it and therefore stopped using that particular output.
avgjoe 2011-09-29, 01:37 PM Hi,
Got a bit of a weird issue with my 6131 - it stopped downloading EPG data. All I get is current and upcoming show. If I move the arrow to right in the guide display, it says it's outdated and asks to download, but even if I choose 'yes' it doesn't actually download the epg data... anyone know how to fix it? It's been working fine until couple of days ago.
Blackloz 2011-09-29, 01:47 PM Try a check switch.
avgjoe 2011-09-29, 02:29 PM Did that, no change. There's definitely something weird going on because in the system info i have a 'warning' message that says there's been x # of signal losses in the last 6 hours... but the receiver works fine - every channel I try, I get picture on, signal is strong... hopefully it's just the lnb having issues and not the receiver.
Pinza 2011-09-29, 03:42 PM Pull the Power Cord for 1 minute, then let it reboot.
OLP11 2011-09-30, 01:12 PM Hey guys, i just had my 6131 receiver installed and i am having a problem. About every minute the screen goes black and an attention box pops up. It says standby for signal, but it only lasts about 1 second then goes back to the tv program i was watching. Has anyone had this problem before? Or does anyone know of a solution? thanks
Pinza 2011-09-30, 01:57 PM Try a Check Switch and then look for an obstruction for causing a loss of signal if it continues. If it still happens, and you are within 90 days of installation, call Bell for a Service Call, it is free.
OLP11 2011-09-30, 08:30 PM Did a switch check and it says all is working. And signal strength is 100, so i don't see how anything could be in the way of the dish. So i guess i'm stuck with calling the installer back to take a look at it.
supes182 2011-09-30, 09:46 PM Hello,
I am hoping someone can give me some advice on setting up a hard drive on my 6131. I bought a 1TB drive but when I hook it up nothing happens. Its like my receiver does not know it is there. Does this mean the drive is the wrong type?
Crozier56 2011-10-04, 02:13 PM I have three 6131 so far. The max external HD right now is 1TB, does anyone know if they are planiing to upgrade software to 2TB in the near future?
Angelfish 2011-10-05, 09:35 AM I recently added a 2TB external drive to my 6141 and now I have 270h of HD recording space :D

I also have same problem (as avgjoe). Where Guide does not populate. Just started to happen recently (last 1-2 weeks).
I only have 82 connected, and 85-90+ signal. Did the whole check switch etc.. powered off etc.. cant seem to sort it out.

It's only using 1TB of that drive.
Angelfish 2011-10-06, 01:11 PM well I just upgraded from a 1TB drive and I get double recording space.

Are you saying that Bell has upgraded the software on the 6131/6141 units to accept the larger external drive?
