Hello,

Recently 2 problems have surfaced on my 6131.

1. The receiver responds slowly to remote commands. It can take 5-7 seconds for the action to take place after I hit anything (i.e. guide, channel up, Power)
The remote works fine for other functions, such as my TV, Volume and DVD.

2. Recorded events on my PVR freeze and stutter during playback. It plays for a few seconds, freezes for a few seconds, freezes, plays.

Perfect operation for years before both of these irritants started.

Any ideas?

I did the update. The optical feed to my receiver is giving a noticeably higher audio volume on the Galaxie channels. I haven't checked TV.

For #1, sounds like your receiver needs a reboot...I'd hold down the power button for 5-10 seconds and let it power back up...will take about 5mins as it researches for satellites and such.

This may also help #2, but this may also have to do with your hard drive...sounds kind of like the hard drive is having trouble streaming the programming fast enough...I've occasionally encountered this type of "stuttering", but it always resolved itself within 30 seconds. In my experience, this would happen when my hard drive was very close to full and I was taxing the receiver by doing too many things at once (e.g. deleting a long HD program, replaying an HD show and starting an HD recording...all within 10-15 seconds).

Hi, i would like to know if i can use my 6131HD receiver with a single lnd dish.
I have a winegard TR2018 satelite dish for my RV and am not sure if it will work my the 6131hd receiver.

Yes it will work but remember to run a "Check Switch" each time you swap it over between systems.

If you have a DPP LNBF at home, I would further suggest you run a "Check Switch" with NO input cable before hooking it up to the Winegard, as that will be using a Legacy LNBF and the higher voltage of the DPP's requirements could damage the Winegard LNBF.

I've searched the net and this thread and haven't found an answer.

Two questions,

First can you get Bell On Demand movies on a PVR enabled 6131?

Second, can you tape on demand movies so you can view them beyond the 48 hr window?

Thanks

Did you attach a hard drive to your 6141?

Yes I did. PVR worked great. Just the On-demand did not show up in the guide.

I noticed that my ABC, NBC, CBS & FOX (all WEST) in the 1200's HD channels are missing on my 6131......did a reboot by holding down the power button but still no go.
I tried to see if perhaps I had locked/hidden out some channels but I didn't....any thoughts.

PS. I can't remember now but on the MENU a sub function called Channels was greyed out I can't remember for sure!!!

If it's just those 5 that are missing, I'd suggest checking with Bell to make sure you still have the US timeshifting on your account.

Thanks doomy, I do have US. time shifting because these channels appear on my 9242 and my bill shows the extra 1$ or 2$/month charge for it. Unless the charge is per receiver???

Today Bell "upgraded" us from a 6141 to a 6131 in an attempt to solve what looked to be a receiver problem but is still driving us nuts.

Normally it has been possible to switch the TV and the receiver on and off independently using the power buttons on the remote(s). However since about the beginning of this month the power button on the receiver remote does nothing, nor does pushing the power button on the front of the receiver. The reset function looked to have quit working as well.

The only way to power up the receiver has been to switch on the TV and follow the "instruction" to use the Select button to turn on the receiver. Then we get message screen 015 (acquiring the satellite signal) followed by message screen 330 with the progress bar downloading the program guide. Normal TV viewing is then possible and for the rest of the day the receiver will switch on & off perfectly ok.

This weird sequence usually only happens once per day when the receiver has been off for the night. I have checked that the updating function is activated and a time specified. All cable connections have been checked and both the SD & HD signals are well in the green and locked. The receiver is permanently plugged in so there should be no power interruption.

As I mentioned at the beginning we were hoping the 6141 was starting to show signs of old age and replacing it with a different model would fix things... now we know it hasn't.

If anybody has any ideas or suggestions I would love to hear them... we can't face the thought of doing battle once again with tech. support.

Is it possible you have an LCD TV.?

It could be the backlight settings.

Changing the Remote Address might help too, at least it can't make it worse.

Are you using Bell remote or the original TV remote?

Does it do the same thing with the Original TV remote?

The same thing is happening with both the original remote and a universal. We've never been able to find a code for our brand of LCD TV so the Bell remote only controls the receiver.

Trying to find some specs on this model - Can someone please post the output connections on the back of this unit.

Thanks in advance.

R0b1, search the forum as there is an image of the back of the 6131 around but IIRC, coax, s-vid, composite, component and HDMI.
