Thanks Pinza...

I know The Source in my region is a little behind in the times, so they may have a 9242...I'll look into it.

I really haven't decided yet if both TVs will be hooked up with HD. One definitely will (eventually), but I haven't decided on whether the second TV will or not.

Sorry, once again for being a little naive, but I can record one show, and watch another "live" at the same time with the 6131s? That's the way I understand it from your post, Pinza.

Also, in reviewing the bell website, in the specifications tab, it only mentions 16:9 (however the same tab for the 9241 mentions 16:9 or 4:3). Furthermore, when using the compare option, it mentions both receivers do 4:3. Anyone know for sure?

Thanks in advance...

Dave

No.

You can watch a pre-recorded show and record a 'live' one.

The 6131 only has 1 Sat Tuner. The 9241 is a Dual Tuner but only feeds 1 TV, the 9200/9242 are Dual Tuners, that feed 2 seperate TV's with separate programming.

16:9 and 4:3 is switchable on all Bell HD Receivers.

Hi there, new here so please be patient. When the 6131 is converted to a PVR, do you have the ability the record one thing while watching another? If this has already been answered I'm sorry. I searched and found nothing. Thanks for any help.

If an EHD is connected, a previously recorded program can be watched while recording another.

I should have my 6131 in a couple of days. I purchased it off Ebay. It comes with a EHD. I wanted to get a 4221 but not willing to pay over $600.00 for a used unit. I currently run a 6100 with a 50 inch HD TV. I have had the 6100 for three years. Love HD. Reading all the posts have answered most of my questions. I want to be able to plug my HDMI from the receiver into my Onkyo Receiver. With the 6100 I had to go directly into my Panasonic TV because if I tried going through the receiver I could not get sound on the HD channels. I think it has something to do with the old style HDMI plug peculiar to that Bell Receiver. It was a ?link. Anyway, I have ans S-Vieo line with two RCA plugs running upstairs to the bedroom TV. Since the 6100 was UHF, I could just take the remote upstairs and it would work just great. Have to watch the same program on both TV's, but that was never an issue. Now with the 6131, I know it is not UHF but infrared. I also run a FTA receiver in the TV room downstairs and have two remotes and use that ball with the antennae to work the FTA receiver from upstairs in the bedroom. My question to you is twofold:
1. Can I run two of those antennae balls at the same time. One would be for the 6131 and one would be for the FTA Receiver. Since I would only be accessing one receiver at a time (each receiver would have it"s own unit with the antennae in front of the respective Receiver's infra red eye), would it work?
2. Do I need a second 6131 remote and if so, where can I purchase one.

Any suggestions/comments would be appreciated.

Thanks for reading my post.

1. Not a clue what the 'antennae ball' is.
2. Yes, get from Bell or E-bay etc.

FYI the connection on the 6100 is DVi.

I'm guessing that it's an IR repeater. A single IR repeater should work with any number of IR remotes at one time. If it only has a single transmitter that attaches to one receiver, that will limit it's use to one receiver. Many IR repeaters have a long range IR transmitter that will control every device within range. That way, only one IR repeater is required for many remotes and devices. A universal remote with a remote IR transmitter, such as the Harmony 900, is another option.

While I was on the phone with my local Bell dealer this morning, I asked, and he stated that it wouldn't be a problem....although take it for what it's worth.

Thanks Pinza and CrazyBob. My apologies for not being more specific on the "ball". It is called a receiver with an emitter line if that makes any sense to you. The only problem seems to be that you have to put the reader in front of the infrared port on the specific receiver you want to use it with. Is that a correct assumption? I think I will have to buy a second unit because it only comes with one special casing that you put the battery in to transmitt. I only wonder if I can run two units at the same time. If they are the same frequency will they go bonkers on me. Thanks for all the help guys. Appreciate it.

I got my receiver today and it included a 5.4 IR Remote. I want to buy another remote and I see on Ebay they say a 5.3 remote is used with a 6131. The 5.3 remote has the Dish Network logo on it wheras the 5.4 IR rmote I got has the Bell logo on it. Are there functional differences between the two remotes or can I go ahead and buy the 5.3 and it will fully function with my 6131. Thanks for reading my post.

Pretty sure it is just an older model although I believe it has a removable tag at the bottom. As they are both IR, I do not see a problem.

I know it's not the same thing, but I'm using my old 2700 series remote as a second remote for my 6131. It doesn't have the PVR stuff, but the guide works as well as the other buttons, so I wouldn't be surprised if a newer remote does work.

Sweet forum!
Got a 6131, hooked up an EHD (WD 1TB Blue w/Nexstar case) and plugged in. I went through the formatting etc. Everything seems to be in order. I open the guide and press record on a show that is on later and then run some errands. I come back to not find any show in 'my recording' menu, but does show up in the 'scheduled' menu. The 6131 or EHD didnt shut down or fall sleep or anything. Is the 'Timer' button the same as a record button? I know this shouldnt be this hard but it is so frustrating.

Thanks
J

I am looking at a 9200 right now and only see 3 options;

PVR
Auto Tune
Reminder

I would suspect that you need to press Record.

After pressing Record, press the PVR button twice, it should then show all future recordings.

Bell/Dish remotes and receivers have 15 programmable addresses for using up to 15 receivers in the same room. Instructions for changing the remote address are in the manual. The main differences between versions of remotes (5.3/5.4) are minor cosmetic changes and maybe some new device codes for newer TVs.
