Finding something to convert Composite to RF is very easy.

I use the Next Generation extender. It works awesome for my 9242 to control 2 systems!

Pinza, is there such a thing a component to rf modulator and would it display in HD?

Basically, no. There are no HD ATSC modulators available that I know of. You can run component cables + audio but that can be impractical (4 or 5 RG6s are necessary.) HDMI is another possibility but this gets expensive with long lengths due to distance limitations and the need for high quality cables and/or extenders.

I have a 6131 receiver that will not power on.

It has been working fine since new, Nov 2009.
Today I set up a SW34 running to the original (2) SW21 switches. Nothing out of the ordinary.
I ran a check switch on my 3100 and everything was fine.
I ran check switch on the 6131. It recognized 91 but didn't see 82. I removed sat. feed and ran check switch, as advised on this forum. When I started to reconnect the cable the power went off on the IRD and will not come back on.

Is there an internal fuse I could have blown?
Is this a common problem? I searched the forum with no results.

It is under warranty and Bell is sending me a new one but it's expected to take 3-5 working days.

Edit:
Sorry Mods, I didn't know all 6131 questions were supposed to be in this thread as I see questions in other threads.

Do you have a hard drive attached to it?
If so.. is it almost full? Does it do the same on recorded shows?

I had a 6131 that developed issues with inconsistent access to hard drive and had it replaced by Bell. The new one is experiencing other issues. It takes almost a minute to allow use to access controls. If the TV is turned on before the receiver, it will not allow the user to access it until the TV is turned off. Is this a common problem. I have another 6131 that exhibits none of these behaviours. The problematic receiver is attached to a Iomega 1T Prestige hard drive but it seems to be working all right. The problems are still there if I disconnect the hard drive. Any suggestions before I return it to Bell under warranty. The firmware is current.

This sounds like an HDMI handshaking issue. It is common with certain models of TVs and some equipment. Use of component cables can eliminate the problem.

I have another 6131 that exhibits none of these behaviours.
Have you tried switching the 6131s to see what happens? That would help find the piece of equipment causing the problem.

With my 6131 I am getting a delay between the lip movement and the sound. Getting no help from customer service - have tried a new HDMI cable and on another TV so I think it must be the receiver or some setting? Any help or ideas would be appreciated.
I apologize if I hijacked someones thread, but I couldn't find post new thread.

Try a hard re-boot and Component Cables.

GOAL:
I need to be able to switch the inputs on my TV from the Bell 6131 Remote

I've setup the Bell Remote to control my TV. Went fine without a hitch. So basically now I can use the Bell Remote to change satellite channels up & down, guide, info whatever...all works fine. The whole time the control is set to the SAT button.

I can control the volume, mute and power up the TV fine. Anytime I use those buttons my TV button blinks on the Bell Remote. Fine no issue there.

My problem is I need to access the TV/Video..basically the Input on the TV. This way I can switch between my Satellite and my Home Theater PC. The wife and I do this constantly. For some reason whenever I hit the INPUT button on the bell remote...the SAT button lights up on the bell remote and nothing happens. I switch it to the TV mode, hit input and still nothing happens.

I looked into a bit more and saw that I can turn on or off "LIMITED" mode. So I turn it off by holding the TV button until all lights light up for a second. Hit the PAGE DOWN button on the bell remote, then the # button. This should turn off the LIMITED mode. Limited mode only lets you use the POWER,VOLUME,MUTE button to control TV functions from the Bell remote and stops you from using the channel up and down (there for changing the channel and thus switching the input).

My other problem is interference with my LCD tv. My bell remote sometimes is completely dead and not working. If I put a blanket in front of my TV, the remote control works fine (blocking all IR signals). With the blanket off the TV sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It's a crap shoot. My TV model number is LC-42D85U.

On one of my 6131, when I go into the GUIDE... everything is slow to react.
Sometimes it can take up to 15secs before the guide shows up the next page
or goes up and down based on what I selected on the remote.

Any idea what could be causing this?

This may be overkill...but you do have a HTPC... My HTPC setup uses EventGhost, WinLIRC, a home made IR receiver, and an RS-232 connection to my TV. WinLIRC can capture pretty much any remote code you throw at it via the IR receiver. EventGhost can act on those codes to switch your TV input via RS-232 (or IR blasting).

A new, programmable remote might be your best option.

Harmony remote would solve your issues.

Hi all,

both myself and my parents have a 6131 with an external hard drive (different models).

She is getting a error 510 "iTV Home Interactive could not be run" when she's on the Weather network (or other channel) and hits the button for more. Mine works fine.

She's rebooted both her reciever and EHD, but nothing changed. FWIW, she has one of the LaCie EHD's recommended by Bell when they launched the whole external thing.

Everything else works fine, including recording and playing back. I've done searches, but this error seems to be lesser known..

thanks

I need to be able to switch the inputs on my TV from the Bell 6131 Remote
Press the TV button briefly. Press the TV/Video button to cycle through TV inputs. Press the SAT button to control the 6131 again.

My apologies if some of this has been asked before (I've been reading the 6131 and the 9241 threads over the last couple of days so I maybe mixing up some stuff made in one thread with stuff from the other thread...my apologies).

Basically, what I'm doing is going to be purchasing a couple of 6131s to replace a couple of significantly older models (with plans of getting an HD TV in the future). As there is one instance where I'm going to be hooking two TVs (both SD) up to one receiver, what's the best way to do so? From my previous reading, I believe I can get an AV adapter that will convert to coax cable, is this correct? Also, is there a way to convert S video to coax, and if there is, will it have sound (sorry..don't know if S video is video only or AV). Depending on whichever situation I go with, I do know I need a IR-UHF adapter to get everything working from a different room to where the receiver is.

Secondly, from my reading, because the 6131s only have a single tuner, I can only record one "live" program and cannot watch another at the same time (this with the required external HD). Now, does "live" mean something like a sporting event, or any thing that's playing on the TV at that time (such as House at 8 pm ET on Fox).

Lastly, where is the other satellite (91 I believe) in relation to 82? I'm in Ontario, FWIW.

Thanks in advance...

Dave

Well to be honest the very best way is to get a 9200 or 9242 but these are no longer available new from Bell. I would keep an eye out for them at The Source. With the current Bell line up of receivers a 6131 can be used with a Modulator on the Composite outputs, then a coax splitter to feed both TV's on whatever Channel the Modulator is.

Also, is there a way to convert S video to coax, and if there is, will it have sound

Pretty sure you can, but I see no advantage and it does not have Audio.

Depending on whichever situation I go with, I do know I need a IR-UHF adapter to get everything working from a different room to where the receiver is

Yes you will need this if going for a 6131. If you get a 9200/9242 it will come with the required remotes.

"Live" means anything that is currently being received by the Receiver, via Satellite. You can watch a Pre-Recorded show, while watching "live", or recording another "live" show.

You do NOT say if the 2 x TV's will be swapped out for 2 x HD TV's, if NOT, then a 5900 would also work for you and as it ships with an RF Remote, it would be quite easy to set up for 2 rooms.
