Well what do you know...

After I finished typing, the 6131 rebooted and I now have a working EHD.

Funny how come it took so much longer on the 6131 than on the 9242.

Anyhow, total format time was around 25 minutes.

Hello all...

Been reading about the 613I reciever and was inquiring on possibilites of connecting this machine to two televisions. From what I undertand from prior posts is that all outputs are active at all times? Even if the HDMI output is beeing used? That would meen that the component outpout can send hd feed to a second tv if I am not mistaken.
Next question would be is it possible to view two different channels at the same time through one reciever? Would a specific setup be possible with out having to add a reciever?

No 6131 you can only listen two one channel at a time.

The only thing you can do is record what is live at one channel while listening
to a show previously recorded.

Thanks for the quick reply, since only one channel can be viewed at a time, can this still be done by connecting two outputs fromn the 6131 to two seperate televisions?

What about a deifferent box? Would it have been possible to view two differents channels on two differents televisions from one box?

Yes you can split the output to two Tv...but they will show the same.

This is why I bought two 6131 when they were in special. Cheaper than getting the Bell PVR. I dedicated one for recording and the other as the main receiver.
Even if I installed an external drive on each.

The 9200/9242 were the Dual Tuner HD Receivers used by Bell, you can pick up a used one to do what you are asking, namely feed 2 TV's with seperate programming at the same time, you can also access the PVR functions on BOTH TV's.

NOTE; TV#2 is Standard Def only.

I bought a 6131 receiver and 1 Tb Seagate Expansion Hard Drive. When I connect the two it goes through the process of reformatting the drive and restarting but nothing happens afterwards.(no errors either) I called Bell and they said to reset the receiver and try again but no luck. Called Bell back and the next person told me that only Wetern Digital and Lacie drives will work?? I have noticed that at least one other posting on here that has used a Seagate drive. anyone have any ideas?

Can bell additional infra red remote help in controlling the receiver from different rooms?
What's the range of these remotes? Was wondering if a receiver can be setup in the basemint (hdmi) and use two of the extra outputs, one for main floor (red/yellow/white) and one on the second floor (s-video). Can two extra remotes be placed in these locations to act as if were plugged in directly?
Any ideas?

IR Remotes need Line Of Sight to work, you would need an IR to UHF Converter/Extender to achieve what you want.

NOTE: All outputs would be showing the SAME programming.

Same programming is understood.

Here is a quote from their website:
Extend your home entertainment control with this infrared- and UHF-compatible universal remote. Control up to four devices with this multi-function remote.
got this from another website:
UHF Second Remote The second remote is designed to control a second TV. The second remote has a range of 200 feet. Walls or other barriers don’t pose a problem

It's the grey/silver remote. Doesn't the 9242 use to come with 2 remotes? The second to be operated in other rooms/floors? Is that remote available?

The problem is that the 6131 is IR ONLY, so you would need the IR/UHF Extender.

Damn... looks like a extender is the only way...

Any other ideas?

looks like this might help out:
DISH NETWORK IR/UHF REMOTE CONTROL PRO UPGRADE KIT

now what would be the best way to take advantage of all of the active outputs of the 6131? most homes are already pre-wired with rg6 cables... is there a way to convert the outputs to two more rg6 outputs? hdmi can be used for one tv, how about for two more?

Use a Modulator to convert from Composite to RF, then split that Output to run to as many TV's as you want.

Thanks for the info Pinza!
Is that split output power required or any simple splitter will do the trick?

What do you think of that remote mentioned?

Pinza

Well any cable splitter will work as the frequencies will be quite low, less than 1Ghz anyway.

Just remember that a 2 way splitter will have a loss of 3.5dB per leg, this will be fine, depending on the distance you intend to push the signals. If the loss is too much then a cheap "Drop Amp" would be fine.

There was no link to the Remote device but as it is from Dish, it should be fine as that is what all the Bell Receivers are.

Thanks for that info!
One more thing, finding a rf rodulator should be easy and not to... there is none with HD input?
