I think you mean 1080i. The only 1080p I recall being available was for PPV Movies downloaded to True Dish DVR's not the illegal FTA HD Receivers.

EDIT;

Plus the fact that a lot of Dish HD is MPEG4 as well.

Yeah, sorry, you're right...1080i...although DTV has 1080P with it's PPV's too!

Check the settings in the 6131 Menu, make sure you are using 720p, I believe the 6131 ships with it set to 480p as the default.

How are you connected to the TV.?

I have it set to 1080i, I thought that if you always set it at the highest, you'll never get more than what the provider offers (720p, as you tell me) but it won't look worse. Am I wrong on this assumption? Should I change it back to 720p? I am connected to the TV through a 3 foot long monster HDMI cable.

well as Pinza has mentioned, Bell only uses 720P, and if you were getting Dish with your FTA, you were most likely watching 1080P, so there would be a difference there.

I only got Bell with my FTA, but there still appeared to be a difference, especially on CBC. I remember CBC being really clear on my old set up with the FTA, but, while clearer than SD, it doesn't seem that great on the 6131. Now, I forgot to mention that other channels (CNNHD, ABCHD, etc.) are much better than CBC...I just don't get it. :P

Were you perhaps watching an upconverted SD program on the CBC HD channel? Some of the content on most HD channels is still SD.

Hi, I figured it out, it just took about 20 mins of really fiddling with my TV's video settings to get the picture just right. I had forgotten that my TV keeps different video settings for each input and I hadn't optimized this particular input for HD yet. Sorry for the false alarm.

Is anyone else having this problem? Within the last couple of days, my 6131 is extremely slow when I hit the 'recall button to change channels, or when I use the channel up or down button. I just timed is using the 'Mississippi' timer, and counted to 9.

Makes it annoying when trying to watch 3 different hockey games.

I'm going to say go with a 750GB Seagate SATA2/7,200RPM/32MB Cache drive and use a Vantec CX enclosure (does eSATA and USB 2.0). That's the combination I use, no issues, and it even picks up the responsiveness of the Guild a little.

I cannot put both satelitte on my receiver (6131). He always chose the 91 and he cannot see the 82, even with a reset or switch test.

i tried 82 and 91 alone with out no switch and every thing is fine, good signal on both, but when a put them together on my sw21, the receiver chose automaticaly the 91 and he tell me a have a sw42 ????.....i am not stupid a purschase a sw21 with 2in and 1 output....

Also on the 82 he tell me that i have sometime a lost of signal on the diagnostic, but i still have all the channels and all the transporter are between 70 and 91 %

So following on from the almost identical thread you have already posted this question in, You remove the INPUT cable, run a "Check Switch" when it fails, you reconnect and run it again and you STILL see an SW42.? Is that correct.?

What did Bell say when you called them.?

If re-setting does not fix, I would be exchanging the receiver.

Yes it is correct Pinza..EVEN with reset and switch test it dosent bland the 91-82

my receiver is brandnew, 1 week old....iam very familiar with fta world but this time i dont understand why the receiver dosent see the 82...it does work well when there is no switch, but thats not to usefull to change the cable outside each time i wanna flip to 91....

so you think that the receiver is deffect ???

At 1 week old, I would just get it swapped, that way, if the new one works, you know it was the receiver. If the new one does the same, then you will have to start again, from the beginning as it must be something simple that we are missing.

I opened a new 6131 receiver out of the box earlier this week with software V167.
While doing a transponder strength test, I noticed the satellite choices were 82 deg., 91 deg. and 119 degrees.
After doing a check switch and channel searching, I was having receiver freezing when set to ch. 507 only.
Remote and front panel buttons had no function.
Required a/c cable removal from wall before it would start back up.
Second try moving from ch. 500 up to ch. 507 and again locked in the freeze position. Screen black.
Removed a/c cable and plugged back in and receiver fine on all channels except 507.
If I went to 507, it froze.
Next day, with overnight download, a new version V168 was showing and the satellite 119 had disappeared from dish tuning screen.
Does not lock on ch. 507 anymore.
Anyone seen this before?

What levels are you showing on Tp4 on 91.?

On tr. 4 from sat.91, I have a reading of 88 with wet cloud cover in the area today.

Then there sould be no logical reason for not seeing 507, unless of course, you do not subscribe to Fox News.....lol
